Got a new (to me) 2012 Legacy, but...
NORULZleggy replied to drgreg's topic in Legacy Photos (2010 - 2014)
I am not sure what you're expecting out of this car. I have a 2013 Legacy 2.5i prem also. Let me tell you the love hate I have for this car. I just put in a new fresh rebuild with better piston rings and the better head gaskets at 151K miles . These FB25 motors depending on the year are known for oil consumption and bad rings. It's the short block that is the problem from the factory. I also replaced the cat at 130K because they take a dump. Last my local tuning Subaru shop replaced valve body and torque converter last week . Had to put the trans and all. this was at 175K miles. Now my wife pulling a general lee ramping a dear in the fog could have caused this, but I still cannot get the full story. I also replaced wheel bearing on it. But I have a whole new car. I hope you have better luck lol I have never seen a filter with plastic, and I have never had a leak on the FB25 since the filter is on top. I do not want to scare you away, but that is my adventure, and I got my money out of it and plan on driving it for another 175K miles. Cheaper than buying a new car any day. -

5mt gets stuck in 5th gear

You all are killing me about not downshifting lol. I will rev match, kick it up to 4k RPMs, Let the clutch out slow and keep it moving. You will know very fast if you do not rev match the car correct, the car and drivetrain will shoot up very fast and do crazy stuff. Get out there and drive these damn cars. Go play chase the dragon on a very curvy back road with hills and banks. You will be up & down shifting to try to chase that car in front of you. Car gets too far ahead you lose. -
Looking at 4th gen LGTs, and hoping for advice.

Just buy mine and your set -
It's up to you BUTTTTTTTTTTT... I miss my 04 STI sooo much. Raw is so right. I miss the big wang and all of it. I do love my LGT it's the better choice at this point. it is not my daily and has never been. Also, you will find a clapped out STI for like 15k or a nice one for 30k. I would go drive them if people let you. then decide.

Hey welcome, I like these cars, nice car to just take care of and not try to modify it. Looks like it was taken care of also. I would make sure all fluids are changed, new battery, check brakes and pads, and so on. The smell could just be a Subaru smell man. Both my legacy's smell lol. I just double check things every other week. Have fun!

You need to do your research a bit more, most really well reputable places are not selling them for 416.17 delivered. That should be your RED FLAG. Run.

Subaru BPE Silicone hoses for radiator ???
NORULZleggy replied to Tronic's topic in Fourth Generation Legacy (2005 - 2009)
Koyorad is what I have, and I love it. Do not go cheap on something that cools your car. I have the lager on stuffed in and a ETS front mount. Car stays very nice. If anything, go stock style if your pockets are not ready to drop the money. -
I am so happy I am not the only one having Legacy problems. My 2012 Legacy 2.5i With a fresh engine decided it wanted to shit the TCM affter my wife rally jumped a dead deer she did not see in the fog lol. So I am trailering it to the shop that built my 2006 LGT to have it fixed . So now my wife has to drive my daily, which runs like a champ. This morning my LGT was leaking fuel from a small line. thank god I smelled it and shut the car down outside, saw the puddle, got in my garage, grabbed the tools and I guess since it has been cold and hot things expanded and shrunk and it has been sitting for a while, I had to tighten my feul line clamp hoses with a few turns . It was just loose and no problems now. I did turn the boost down on the way to work. Because of first world problem, I have to drive my LGT , I was about to winterize it and had the trickle charger ready dang.

08+ STI Brembos on an 05 LGT
NORULZleggy replied to PimpFro's topic in Fourth Generation Legacy (2005 - 2009)
I agree. I already have the STI rotor's and pads and ne E-brake parts. I want that big rotor to match my front setup. I can't ride around my town with big rotors up front and tiny one's in the rear. -
We can't have cool sneeze sounding BOV's like a ford fiesta. Not got get you a nice Turbo smart BOV with full recirc and tune. A nice intake with a nice BOV or race port will make that noise. I finally got the cool rice nice when I went ETS front mount and TS race port. do not go cheap. Also last time I was selling parts GFB was trash. I was taking back their BOVs often. I hope they got better.
