my Subaru will beat with a Buick heart!
frank_ster replied to frank_ster's topic in Fourth Generation Legacy (2005 - 2009)
i'm poor.. the trans i feel just needs the aftermarket controller. as my car builds 20 lbs boost at half throttle. but when at half throttle the tranny is only running at half pressure! but i am more worried about rear diff . i really don't want to put excess money in the car right now. i already have the controller just need to take the plunge and install it. and i have already run 13.2 quite easily. -

Well mostly that's what I am doing. But it's a cleaned up motor with my forged Pistons and mls head gaskets , it's not expensive to get block bored about 120$ and the crank w bearings is 180$ It's not bad to have a rebuilt short block for under 500$ -

so the crank shaft broke. ( it was a welded and re machined on #6 rod) and it broke between 5 and 6 rods. and it was still running ! took it apart and that piston is fine just gotta change the rod. and i will likely change the block also, the walls have some scores and i don't want to take a chance that the block mains are fractured somewhere. anyways i figure the crank broke because of the welding and them not leaving nice fillets that cause stress risers that make the the crank weak . those tiny fillets are the most important part of the crank! -

ok are you asking for boost when not full throttle ? could you show your boost map ? why i am asking some tuners for mt cars like to tune the tables to where they try to build boost when at part throttle. the 5 eat and tcu don't like it ! -

question .. do you have a manual boost controller on your car ? -
^ drive shaft maybe ?
-
oh i didn't know u needed to change the sundials

fyi in the rom you can disable p0700 . so if you have a trans error the sport light will still flash but it wont set the cel and disable the cruise. and the actual code of the problem will still be stored. so no real downside to doing this as far as i have seen.
-
^ but you could of used your stock axles ! just pull the stub out and change the oil seal. its been talked about.

^ please report to the canadian safety thingy .. i posted the link earlier in the thread.. -
well maybe not ignored.. but not used for shifting... my cars if i have them on the lift and run through the gears.. one of the front wheels stops turning the abs and sport light start flashing.
-
well the tcm will use the wheel sensors via abs contoller when the speed sensors in the trans mission are not working.
-
the gear calcualtion is left over from the manual cars, the tcu knows what gear the trans is in. but the tcu may not like the abs speed sensors reading differently from what the tcu thinks the vehicle speed is. but not sure.
-
i dont see how you could reuse the pinion and change rings to get a different gear ratio.. the pinion is the only thing that changes diameter and more importantly the pitch diameter. both pinions maybe 12 tooth but they are not the same diameter. typically ring and pinion are always matched . the 5 eat has a front diff speed sensor inside the unit. and a rear speed sensor witch is external the 5 eat gear position is taken from the shiftier inside the car as far as i know. and there are pressure pots in the trans mission to determine where there is pressure.
-
The maf unfortunately has everything to do with shifting The maf is used to calculate engine load and then engine load is sent to the tcu to determine line pressure and shift speed. Normally the tcu adjusts when between 10-20% throttle position and adjusts for variances . It has a target shift time so it will scale the pressures and shift speeds. If the maf gets dirty in a short amount of time the trans may not have time to adjust .
-
your being way to picky .. the oil can be completely off the dipstick and it would still shift totally fine. just dont overfill as it makes foam then it will shift bad.

about 1 L Or 1 quart if your murican
