  1. I have the stock wheels on my spec b. I saw somewhere they are an 18"x7" 5x100 55mm offset. I'm wondering if someone can confirm this and and had a few questions other questions regarding new wheels. I assume an 18"x8" wheel fits? If so what should the offset be? What is the needed hub hole size? What is the widest tire that can be run on that size wheel with no fender mod?
  2. I was wondering about that. Would love to try this out. Thanks for the info guys much appreciated.
  3. Hey I have a friend whose daughter has a 99 legacy. It developed a rough running state and then threw a P1507 code. I'm assuming from some poking around on the interwebs that the IACV needs cleaned? If anyone has any input that would be appreciated and if there is a link to the service manual for this gen legacy that would be really helpful.
  4. Mountain bike, run, occasional triathlon.
  5. @tehspud Where would a guy get a helmet around these parts?
  6. Thanks guy I really appreciate the info. I'll have to see when I can swing coming out.
  7. To what extent? I don't think I'm fast, I think I like to drive fast. I can detune it, can I run it that way? How do you do this? Online? This is helpful thanks.
  8. That would be super helpful. Ya I bought the car and the stock turbo crapped the bed 1 month into owning it and ended up having to buy a new short block and rebuild the whole thing. I got bit by the "while I'm at it" bug and long story short, it ended up making 360ish awhp after being tuned by GDT Dom at Tier One. It was quite the process as I have never pulled a motor in my life and had to learn alone on the fly. The car was on the dyno something like 8 times working out problems with old sensors and coils till it finally got sorted out right before the green speed debacle and got its latest tune. I just put tarmac 1 coilovers on it and am planning on refurbing all the bushings, getting wider tires and new sway bars. I'm not 100% sure what direction to go with sway bars and bushings yet. I've always wanted to try autocross or some kind of track driving. I like driving fast and pushing the limit and need a safe forum to do so. I also have kids with the same interests so it's something we can share. I'm not sure if that gives you a feel for where the car is at or not. Does a guy just show up and say, "hey I'm new what do I do?"
  9. Hey thanks for that information. I will contact them. I assume you are around Spokane? I am interested in trying some autocross and am not sure where to start around here, having never done it. Would you be able to give me any direction in that arena?
  10. I have replaced boots. The key is to make sure you put all the bearings back in the exact same position they were in when you took them off. Also orient the cup with the bearings in the same slot they were in when taken off. Otherwise it's just a messy but simple job. Pictures are bad but you can see I have the bearings marked 1, 2, 3 and marked their original mounting position on the shaft and the cup.
  11. Hey didn't know this sub forum existed. I live Spokane. I was wondering if anyone knows a place I can get my car corner balanced? I don't know if there's a place in Spokane or not but I'm willing to drive.
  12. Does anyone know where to get a car corner balanced in Washington or Portland area? I'm in Spokane, Wa
  13. You've probably already done this but. There's an outfit in Florida, I think, that sells axles and has you ship back your old ones as a core to rebuild and resell. It's called Raxles and they make excellent axles in my experience. My car makes north of 360 awhp and I routinely test them out. No vibration or noise and seem as good as stock or better. 100% would buy again.
  14. Do you have any pics of them? I'd he very interested in that.
  15. Are used the only option? Anyone know the part number?
  16. Hey I'm wondering. I have an 07 spec b. Does anyone have a good way to get rid of the chrome trim on the rocker? I want it to be flat but have been told that paint and vinyl wrap both don't like to stick to the chrome. So I'm not sure what to do. I'm trying to do a chromeless exterior.
  17. I have air pump and tgv deletes. I still have a cat as I saw now performance benefit for deleting this. I was under the impression that tuning on Cobb now with deletes would brick your tune and put the car in limp mode. My car was tuned prior to all the green speed nonsense but there were more things to do and I was hoping that some other options or work arounds might arise. Does anyone have any experience with link? My tuner said he didn't know if it works for lgt's. He tunes wrx's on it but hasn't done an lgt. He quit tuning Cobb because of greenspeed and he thinks Cobb is a substandard option and primarily recommends emtron. Emtron is 5k minimum and I'm not sure I want to drop that kind of coin for a few upgrades or tuning refinement.
  18. Is there a good non Cobb solution for tubing with deletes now? I want to do some stuff with my car but Its tuned via access port. I have deletes and don't want to put them back on so I'm kinda in a bind. Wondering what is available that isn't a multiple thousands of dollars stand alone.
  19. Hey I forgot my password and tried to reset it several times but the email link only sent me to the home page with no option to reset only to log back in. Fortunately I managed to remember it. It took a few lockouts to figure it out. I figured I should mention it in case I'm not the only one.
  20. Ya what he said lol. So the mechanic put the housing/hanger on the tank with no seal and noticed it rocking a bit. So they massaged the metal lip to make it flat so the hanger wasn't rocking, then reassembled. They smoke tested it and filled it up. I got it back yesterday and so far so good. No fresh fuel smell only left over from all the spilling and that's tapering off. No smell outside the car. Gotta say I appreciate a place that will try and fix the problem before Willy nilly replacing parts.
  21. I physically saw it flowing from that seal after it was "repaired" and took it back in. The problem seems consistent with the symptoms of the original problem but exacerbated. Maybe it has a crack and they can't see it. I could be wrong, but it seems unlikely to me that all of a sudden the metal mating surface on the tank side is somehow magically bad. I think the best first step is getting a new hanger and seal and seeing how that works out. Unless someone else has any input.
