  1. I went to burp my coolant today and the car never went over 187 degrees. It idled for about 35 minutes and would hit 187 for a bit then drop back to 185. It was pretty cold outside, around 32 degrees. I'm thinking maybe the thermostat was stuck open and it was steadily flowing? I didn't hear any air bubbles in the cabin and the heat inside the car was working great. I revved the engine a bit, squeezed the radiator hoses, a few bubbles here and there but less than I was expecting. I've heard some thermostats stick open when they fail but not sure if that is what's going on. Any ideas?
  2. I'm running a fujitsubo legalis catback on my wagon and it sounds great. Nice and quiet at cruising speeds but really opens up at higher rpm.
  3. Wow those things are hurting. I would try an extractor socket and heat. Next time soak them with a penetrating oil like pb blaster or kroil for a few days before attempting.
  4. Went through the car and double checked all the bolts and clamps from the new turbo/intercooler install. Just waiting on a base map to fire the car up and burp the coolant. I was thinking about going for it but I upgraded the injectors from stock to DW 740's, don't know if it would start and probably wouldn't be the best for the plugs.
  5. Finishing up a turbo/intercooler/injector swap today. Going to change the oil, drain and fill ATF and refill the coolant system. Anyone have tips on filling/burping the coolant system to avoid air pockets? Thinking I will refill the radiator then turbo coolant tank, then run it with the turbo reservoir cap off and give the top radiator hose a squeeze to get air out. I've seen people mention using a no-spill funnel but is it necessary?
  6. Yea tmic is off. Tried a few different needle nose but nothing fits in there with enough room to maneuver. I'm thinking about trying some long curved hemostats, it might do the trick.
  7. Anyone have tips on getting the vaccum line connected/secured to the compressor housing? Struggled with it for a while today before moving onto other projects. Tried to fish it in while it was zip tied to a cut up wire hanger but had no luck. Really wishing I had connected it when the turbo was resting on the up-pipe studs. Any tips or tricks would be greatly appreciated.
  8. Installing a turbo and I'm struggling so bad with getting the vacuum lines connected to the compressor housing and wastegate. Any tips on connecting and getting zip ties on these lines? Got the wastegate one connected but now trying to secure it. Compressor housing I'm thinking about taping the hose to a wire hanger with a zip tie on loosely then fishing it on, cutting the tape and tightening the zip tie.
  9. Anyone have tips on how to loosen the flare connection in the oil line that connects to the top of the turbo? I saw a few write ups that mentioned bending it out of the way for turbo removal but scared it's going to kink/break. Had a 17mm wrenches on the top and bottom but couldn't get it to budge. Soaked in pb blaster and going to try again tomorrow.
  10. Was doing a once over in the engine bay and found this rubber piece down in the passenger fender area. Tried to find its home but didn't have any luck. Anyone know what this piece is?
  11. Took a closer look at the shake in the steering wheel today after work. Only happens when stopped and at very low speeds. When you turn the wheel it shudders a bit, almost knocks. Also was getting a slight chirp from the steering pump area. Took off the engine cover and the power steering pump looked greasy, like possibly fluid has been slowly leaking. Level is maybe a quarter inch low in the reservoir. Time to rebuild or buy a new power steering pump?
  12. I think something is up with my power steering or rack. Had to parallel park at the kids school this morning and the steering wheel shook when reversing and cutting the wheel to get into the spot. Power steering and front diff fluid is good but that's all I had time to check before heading into work. Hope it's something I can knock out before it gets too cold. Also has anyone ordered a turbo from HCFI recently? I've been waiting 10 weeks now and haven't gotten any communication from the owner in over a month.
  13. What did you use to extend your stock bpv hose there? Getting ready to install a new top mount and looking like it's going to be quite a stretch.
  14. Gave the wagon a thorough wash and wax today. Love the way it looks all cleaned up. Can't decide if I'm going to park it for the winter towards the end of November/early December. The winters in Ct can be brutal and the crap they dump on the roads devours cars. Have an 08 Grand caravan that runs perfect so I may drive that until April or so. No indoor storage so I keep going back and forth in my head. Thought about a cover but worry about it shifting in the wind and damaging the paint.
  15. Looked at a car my friend is thinking about purchasing. Seller claimed timing was done 3k miles ago. What do you guys think? Is there any way to determine? I think he has better pictures on his phone so I'll try to post more.

  17. Cleaned out the engine bay a little. Kind of nerve racking, so many electrical connections and vacuum lines but everything went smooth and it ran fine after. Would you guys buy these injectors? They are DW 850cc I found on the marketplace. My tuner suggested I upgrade for the next round so I've been looking around. Was going to go with 740's but don't see any harm in going bigger, especially being cheaper than buying new. From what the seller said they haven't been installed since cleaning/testing but it was back in 2019. They are still sealed in plastic. Is the variance ok on these?
  18. He said the feedback knock went crazy then the turbo went. When they tore it down the valve seal in cylinder 3 was shot. Apparently they removed the tune and flashed to stock, it was showing codes for misfiring in 2 cylinders. This is all information from the shop who did the work so don't know how accurate it is. He messaged to give me a heads up that his CEL was disabled because we were tuned by the same guy. I'll have to try and get more information. My rod bearing also spun without a CEL, towards the end it was really bad. Surprised me it never popped up.
  19. Quality got chopped but love taking night shots.
  20. Is it common for tuners to disable the check engine light in the instrument cluster? A friend of mine got his LGT tuned by the same guy as me and apparently his was disabled. Was misfiring and had no idea. If it was disabled would the AP still pick them up?
  21. Purchased the intercooler from cheeseenlo. Shipped incredibly fast and was packed very secure. Part is in excellent condition.
  22. Right on, shoot me a pm of what it would be shipped to 06098.
  23. Tried to chase down a rattle that occurs when going over small bumps. The sound stops when any brake pressure is applied but everything was torqued to spec and the noise was still there. Thinking maybe the slide pins have to be greased or replaced.
  24. For 4th gen. Preferably with hoses and splitter. Just thought I'd reach out here before buying a brand new one.
