Max Capacity
Ask Cobb or one of the Tuners on here. I'm also thinking with the stock pistons...do you really want to be doing that? 305,600miles 5/2012 ej257 short block, 8/2011 installed VF52 turbo, @20.8psi, 280whp, 300ftlbs. (SOLD). specialB
As fun as it is (trust me i know) just let it be. Not worth a new motor, clutch, transmission... Awd cars are not made to launch as the give usually won't be at the tires Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk
ctlex
do you have a custom tune or are you running a cobb ots map? if its a custom tune im pretty sure the tuner has to enable it in the tune for it to work.
kongzilla
I'm on a custom tune and I just set my launch control. Works just fine. Very addicting I tell you.
mwiener2
Update your AP You may also need to update your maps. Cobb has a tool on their forums and on the their website to do it. Strizzy
You'll enjoy flat foot shift more than launch control. And you won't have to keep a stack of spare axles in your garage. My bad luck build
fahr_side
You'll enjoy flat foot shift more than launch control. And you won't have to keep a stack of spare axles in your garage. Yeah, that. I have both (via tinywrex's opensource patch) and only ever use FFS. A 5MT or it's clutch are not going to last long using LC. I have customers with GRBs that use LC frequently with no problems but the 5MT just isn't up to it, IME. Burba88
I'm just using cobbs stage one... Yeah maybe I'll stay away from launch control not worth destroying axels or tranny over it. What is flat foot shifting just not letting off the gas as you shift ? KMT Tuned
fahr_side
FFS allows you to stay WOT by using the switch on the clutch pedal to toggle to a lower rev limiter while the pedal is down. If you set that rev limit too low you can get some odd effects in normal operation. With your stock turbo car there isn't too much point revving out to redline as that's so far past peak torque. I Donated Too luchadorjose Posted December 11, 2012 I Donated Too Share Posted December 11, 2012 i've been told that the conventional wisdom for launching a 5mt is NOT to two-step launch it. The way I was shown (and i have a 6mt so i haven't really practiced it) if to hold the RPM's where you want them with partial throtlle (let's say 5K for arguments' sake), and when you're ready to launch, let the clutch out quickly and smoothly while keeping the RPM's up, basically matting it as your clutch is barely fully engaged. You don't end up with the same tire spinning launch as you would if you dump it, but it's still FAST

fahr_side
Simple version, don't bother until you go to an upgrade turbo. Drogos
because of threads like that I am convincing myself more and more not to ever buy used turbo subaru again. I got lucky once, 2nd time would be pushing it.

Drogos
well, that was my point but so far so good on my used car A lot of miles on a young car usually means smooth highway cruising. It shows and 100% stock to boot. Speaking of which ..I just read your other thread on your ordeal with your buildS.....dude I don't know anyone that went through so much shit, I admire your patience. In general - your experience, my friends build experience ..all leads to one simple conclusion: STAY STOCK, STAY HAPPY With all the money you have dumped in to that car you could have a close to new M3 or other more purposefully build sports car
fahr_side
Upgrading to a vf52 With a VF-52 the FFS feature becomes more useful, and LC becomes more dangerous. Burba88
Lol I'm not planning on beating up my car I really don't beat on it at all I don't think I'm in the fast and furious haha. No rebuild thread for me. But yeah I probably will just stay away from doing any LC , after all this is my DD KMT Tuned
