launch control

Recommended Posts

You'll enjoy flat foot shift more than launch control. And you won't have to keep a stack of spare axles in your garage.

Yeah, that. I have both (via tinywrex's opensource patch) and only ever use FFS. A 5MT or it's clutch are not going to last long using LC. I have customers with GRBs that use LC frequently with no problems but the 5MT just isn't up to it, IME.

FFS allows you to stay WOT by using the switch on the clutch pedal to toggle to a lower rev limiter while the pedal is down.

If you set that rev limit too low you can get some odd effects in normal operation. With your stock turbo car there isn't too much point revving out to redline as that's so far past peak torque.

  • I Donated Too
i've been told that the conventional wisdom for launching a 5mt is NOT to two-step launch it. The way I was shown (and i have a 6mt so i haven't really practiced it) if to hold the RPM's where you want them with partial throtlle (let's say 5K for arguments' sake), and when you're ready to launch, let the clutch out quickly and smoothly while keeping the RPM's up, basically matting it as your clutch is barely fully engaged. You don't end up with the same tire spinning launch as you would if you dump it, but it's still FAST

Simple version, don't bother until you go to an upgrade turbo.

well, that was my point but so far so good on my used car :) A lot of miles on a young car usually means smooth highway cruising. It shows and 100% stock to boot. Speaking of which ..I just read your other thread on your ordeal with your buildS.....dude I don't know anyone that went through so much shit, I admire your patience. In general - your experience, my friends build experience ..all leads to one simple conclusion:

STAY STOCK, STAY HAPPY :) With all the money you have dumped in to that car you could have a close to new M3 or other more purposefully build sports car :)

Upgrading to a vf52

With a VF-52 the FFS feature becomes more useful, and LC becomes more dangerous.
