dingbang
With the slave cyl removed there should be a teeny bit of wiggle front to back on the fork. If I remember right when my fork slid off the pivot there was almost no moving that sucker with the trans bolted up.
Yfarmeaahka
Did you have the tsk3 TO kit on your car when that happened?
dingbang
No I didn't but I just did a clutch job about a month ago and put one on. My fork was still able to slip off with the tsk on there. All it takes is the tob to shift forward and the fork slips off the pivot.
Yfarmeaahka
I dont really remember how exactly the fork went on the tsk but I remember clamping it to the fork with the thin wire part, your supposed to clamp that on the back side of each finger on the firk right? Yfarmeaahka
Whitelightning had a good point in another thread saying he thought maybe ACT flywheels were particular to ACT clutches. Can anyone verify this or does anyone have an ACT streetlite flywheel with another brand clutch? I got the flywheel from AZPinstalls and I PMed mike about it but I havent heard from him yet, its only been a day. I was also thinking maybe the clutch disc is bent from installing... has anyone ever dont this on these cars? I cant really see it being that easy to do because i feel like as soon as the input shaft splines goes in the clutch disc the tip of the shaft will be in the pilot bearing to help keep it straight. whitelightning
Have you had a change to check the fork? If you're skinny you can reach back there and wiggle it. It won't budge if it's off, like dingbang said. You'll know immediately.
Yfarmeaahka
I'm about to get off work in 5 minutes and im going to head home and check that. So if I take off the slave cylinder and it doesnt wiggle slightly its off and if it has a slight wiggle its good?
Yfarmeaahka
Alright I checked the clutch fork and from what I can see its all right but there is absolutely no play in the fork at all. http://i1286.photobucket.com/albums/a606/yfarmeaahka/FDE0CC08-D11A-4E1C-AD62-AC69EBBB40D1-13702-00000D4C29E12908_zps638d4048.jpg http://i1286.photobucket.com/albums/a606/yfarmeaahka/920F54DC-1C42-4D65-B469-1035D2B4F17A-13702-00000D4C22204EB2_zps91d106af.jpg http://i1286.photobucket.com/albums/a606/yfarmeaahka/C54533A3-A581-4F0D-8218-4C3D13C08759-13702-00000D4C1B9A39E7_zps8499692b.jpg
whitelightning
Oh that looks perfect to me. Sorry. Did you push the pedal and see how far the fork moves?
Yfarmeaahka
Yeah it's about an inch.
whitelightning
That fork should wiggle. Something is off there. The new pivot, did you have and way to check the adjustment after installing? I was going to adjust mine when I had all my issues and decided against it. Unfortunately you didn't get that option. How do you know if that's too far in or out? More likely out in my opinion. Yfarmeaahka
I don't believe your supposed to adjust the pivot ball. It's supposed to be tightened snug in the bell housing. If you left it out some it would be loose. And my pivot is screwed in as far as it will go.
whitelightning
Hmmmm. Time for a 6 speed swap? My last guess is the parts don't work well together. Hopefully someone can chime in that knows. It might be just that pp isn't designed for that style fw.
Yfarmeaahka
Yeah I'm waiting for mike from AZPinstalls to get back with me about that but if anyone else knows about this pp and flywheel feel free to speak up.
thisisthenewsic
i had this same exact problem when i did my 6 speed, couldnt figure the problem, replaced the slave, clutch line and master cylinder. nothing removed the trans, removed the clutch and reinstalled it and it was fine. i know you dont wanna pull the tranny again but its needed. Yfarmeaahka
Well that's what I'm in the middle of now. Mike from AZP just got back with me and said it should all work with that setup. He also said he can't get to his shop because of the hurricane and he is busy bailing water.
whitelightning
When you pull it check for any marks that may indicate something either not lined up or rubbing. They may have accidentally marked the disk backwards. I don't think it will fit the other way but you can at least test fit it. If mike can verify which direction the clutch disk sits it will save a headache. Double check the torque specs too. The pp is 12 ft/lbs I think. Yfarmeaahka
Yeah I don't have a torque wrench so I just wrist tightened it with a 1/4 in drive. Mike said he will get back to me next week and unfortunately that is too far away for me to wait.
Yfarmeaahka
Hey no problem Mike, you gotta do what you gotta do. Hopefully I'll figure it all out tonight but who knows.
Yfarmeaahka
Well the transmission is out an I cannot find a single thing wrong. The clutch fork was all the way against the front of the bell housing when installed last time and kinda made a mark on the fork. The fork and TOB was all correct and no weird markings on the pressure plate or flywheel. There is a very small nick on the clutch disc that I don't remember seeing but it could have happened during install or uninstalling it.
whitelightning
Check to see if the disk could fit the other way?
Yfarmeaahka
Yeah and it doesn't sit flush on the flywheel.
thisisthenewsic
pull the pressure plate off, and realign the disc and pressure plate. maybe the pressure plate didnt sit flat??? im not sure what exactly was wrong with mine when it did this same thing to me, but i noticed that the disc was only engaging on a small portion of the flywheel on one side til the clutch was fully engaged and when trying to disengage it wouldnt completely. my car would slowly inch forward. and wouldnt go into gear unless the car was off. Yfarmeaahka
When I get off work tonight I'm going to reinstall everything and see if that works. Can over extending the slave cylinder damage it and make it not work properly without actually leaking any fluid? When the fork broke originally I am sure that it fully extended.
