TexasLegacy2.5GT
I've been following H6 N/A swaps for about a year. It's a little bit of some "undiscovered country" for the LGT crowd. Is the EG33 engine considered a closed deck motor?
joelwatts
not that i'm aware of. semi-closed seems to be the term tossed around. I'm a native of South Carolina. I am a dying breed.
FUIAAE
Damnit, they've found me! http://i1180.photobucket.com/albums/x412/bobblebody/emoticons/theyareontome.gif I've been following H6 N/A swaps for about a year. It's a little bit of some "undiscovered country" for the LGT crowd. Is the EG33 engine considered a closed deck motor? EG33 is an open-deck design, BUT it has turbo internals, 7 main bearings and sleeves that would make an ej25D proud. You can easily push these engines over 400CHP without an issue on stock internals. The easiest rout and most cost effective to lower compression is to use ej22T pistons, BUT you'll want to get them machined to match the combustion chamber to reduce the risk of pre-det due to different designs. They will 'fit' but won't be the best match.
joelwatts
yep. "stock" internals for me. looking for an hx30 turbo currently. looking at flow charts, it seems that it will be a good match for the eg and it has a v-band exhaust outlet so thats a plus. now i just need to figure out management and how the hell ima shove a fmic on this thing w/o it sticking out too bad. FUIAAE
Cut the bumper beam an install it in front of your radiator. You're going to be moving the radiator forward anyway, and possibly removing the condenser? If so then installing the FMIC won't be an issue. Cut the horizontal supports leaving the main front piece of metal in tact. That will give you about 4 inches to work with. I'd look into some slim mount 6in fans to mount directly on the FMIC that were 'ignition on' powered. The only real issue with these engines and boost is keeping the intake charge in the 100F range. If you can do that, detonation shouldn't be an issue. Or if you can weld aluminum you could make yourself a bumper beam that ends up looking like this. http://i1180.photobucket.com/albums/x412/bobblebody/2012-05-01170008.jpg

FUIAAE
If you need a list of wires to splice/merge I have the plug and pin numbers in my journal in an excel spreadsheet file. It's on the first post, under informative links/resources, should be clearly named at the bottom of the list. That's for a 94 obd1, ensure your plugs/pins are the same before use! Use in conjunction with the SVX/ECU pinout picture for peace of mind. (found in the same block of links).

joelwatts
About twenty mins. Most of it was muffed up to begin with so I wasn't too gentle with it coming out. The harness on the other hand, I treated like my first born. The harness is massively heavy. I'm a native of South Carolina. I am a dying breed.
