Mike07LGT
Seems like alot of work for not much gain or sound... id rather run an aftermarket system and actually hear and see a gain but thats my opinion 03 WRB WRX (RIP) 04 JBP STI (sold) 07 DGM Legacy GT (RIP) 12 OBP STI (DD)
evildriver
i think that's the point of this... for people wanting a LITTLE extra sound. most aftermarket cbe's don't provide much of a gain anyways unless you're in the higher hp range.
mikeyvt
When I originally did this I only wanted a LITTLE extra sound, I had a new baby at the time and didn't want too loud of a car. Right now I have a Perrin mid and y pipe with stock cans on. I like keeping the car quiet and for a little extra sound I have an ewg on my car anyway. I'm glad other people liked the idea and have tried it. To each his own.
benena
You found Sti mufflers for $50 on eBay? $70 shipped. I'll take some pics but i think mine came out nice. Basically sti muffler on oem catback. Sounds the same but just noticeable deeper tone, much deeper.
PutnamCO
i think that's the point of this... for people wanting a LITTLE extra sound. most aftermarket cbe's don't provide much of a gain anyways unless you're in the higher hp range. +1 on this. When I was researching what to do, there was little evidence that mufflers made a discernible increase in power. I too wanted something just a bit louder with the quad-tip look. I also figured that if people like cryo were making 440wtq on stock CBE, I wasn't going to be too limited. (http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/cryotune-performance-355hp-440tq-hta68-w-e85-06-lgt-spec-202632.html) I've been asked for more pics, and finally grabbed some the other day. I apologize for the dirty tips/car, but here they are.
panamajack
That looks pretty good. Did you trim the exhaust cutouts in the bumper?
PutnamCO
Thanks. I had to trim about wide 2" and 4" long from the part closest to to the front of the car. Just used a razor blade to cut that, and I doubt anyone would notice where I cut, even if I went back to single outlet mufflers.
benena
bumper is all messed up from street parking =T I'm not very big on picture taking but here they are. the front wheel gap is very noticeable closer up. Will be lowering soon. Add some saggy butt spacer on back too.
benena
btw this sounds SO DEEP on low rpm, I can feel the bass standing outside the car. Once it passes 1st gear... quiet.
