2010 Dodge Challenger R/T w/ Track Package - perspective after 3000 miles

Recommended Posts

sucks that someone dinged your door.

Some people are just hateful.

I watched a lady open her door into my car, then use the door to balance her fatass as she got out of the car. Similar damage and I caught her before she took off. She gave me a sob story that it's her sons car and she has no money and is on welfare.

I'm a sucker.

Still looking good. 512whp really isnt that impressive with an all new valve train and supercharger. I have seen 5.7 liters make 500whp with just a supercharger/turbo kit and a fuel upgrade with like 8psi. Then again who knows what dyno he was on, could have been a mustang dyno. 519whp on a mustang dyno would turn into 570ishwhp on a dynojet. If I were you I would go N/A and try to make a 400-450whp higher reving beast, there is always spray if you want more. If you are gonna go with boost do it right and build the whole engine for boost.

I watched some crazy dude with krusty the clown hair get out of his POS 87 caravan and proceed to put his arm full of aluminium canned goods on the hood of my corvette as he got more stuff out of his van. I bitched that dude out hardcore, telling him I wouldnt even rest cans like that on someone elses car even if it looked like his much less a corvette. Thinking back on it I think he might of been somewhat retarded :lol:

Check out the SMS 570 kit.. saleens twist. A monster that cranks 570hp. we have a couple that come around our shop and they are outrageous.

Vortex makes a nice kit as well, though i never was a fan of centrifugal superchargers.

The bottom end of these blocks are pretty damn beefy to begin with. Theres a guy who has a 08-09 Charger with a 5.7 that is running 13psi through a massive vortex s/c and daily drives and beats the shit out of it.

Just a matter of time until someone unlocks it, the cars are not that old yet usually takes a year or two for tuners to even crack them. I'm sure the earlier model year cars were locked and encrypted too.

I did notice that Mopar is offering some performance stages for the SRT-8 cars, up to and including a 426 aluminum block HEMI as a stage 3 package. Not street legal, like that will stop anyone...

Well, there ARE crate 426 motors, which will literally drop right in to any HEMI... R/T, SRT or Mopar 10 edition. Of course, there are some drivetrain tweaks and you have to buy a new ECU but it is an option... for $13,600 for the motor.

The 5.7 345 ci that came in mine is only $5000 in comparison. Makes me wonder why the Subaru 2.5L dealership wanted $8000 for the short block. :spin:

There is a Drag Pack SRT10 Challenger, which doesn't have a VIN thats similar to the SRT10 viper, IIRC it's a 512 ci 8.4L V10... the same that's found in the Dodge Ram SRT10 and the 2010 Viper...

there was a street concept pictured here: which actually beat the viper but was never released. But then again, never say never witih Mopar...

Pictured above is the SRT10 Challenger with the Shaker hood system and custom chin/fascia with a carbon hood (possibly for deflection issues?)

If a guy had the tools and the space that crate motor and ECU are actually not too outrageous compared to what you might otherwise have to spend to get to that power level. Plus with the extra displacement there is even more power that can be accessed with additional mods.

Personally since the engine exists, I suspect that Dodge will at some point in the next couple of years certify it and offer it in the SRT-8. That is when I will seriously look at one, although stock the 392 SRT-8 is easily within financial reach, and is honestly something I would probably not muck around with modding other than an exhaust anyway.

13,000 is pricey considering you can get some v8s fully built for 5k in parts and another 2k in labor.... or do it youself for just 5k in parts. Not sure what the 426 13,500 dollar crate engine makes for power but you could probably get more out of a 5.7 custom built. Probably 520-550crank hp and more if you stroke/bore it.

I think it is supposed to be about 550hp or so. Compared to an LS7 crate it is competitive on price and power.

If I were to build another engine I would just buy a short block and put everything else together myself is really my only point. A ls7 short block can be made to produce over 600whp or around 700crank hp with the right top end/ valve train.

545hp 585tq, supposedly. With a nice cam and a snappy tune im sure 600 is not far fetched..

Where do you get these engines from? Are they through chrysler?

Yes. You can get them through the mopar performance catalog.

People even sell them on amazon lol

Cool, it seems that it is hard to find performance parts for these late model mopars except through chrysler/mopar itself.

I'm not much of a Mopar guy but I seriously love how these cars look, really probably the best looking of the three.

Government does not solve problems; it subsidizes them

Took on a C5 Corvette last Sunday on the 1/8 mile, and won...

I had right lane. Horrible reaction time but the guy at tech told me that it was a sportsman tree and to go on the 3rd amber. Turns out it was a pro tree and I didn't realize all 3 lights showed up at once.

Had quite the jump out of the hole as well, the corvette not so much:

I got a few PMs on this so I'll upload my scheme:

First theme was pretty basic and clean cut. Then I decided to throw together something more fun and kind of a joke until it caught on:

Turned into:

Final update: sold at 81,000 miles

I sold this car at 81,000 miles when the 2015 Challenger R/T 392 came out. This is known as the Scat Pack. Essently the Challenger R/T with all the SRT powertrain and electronics, and special badging. 392ci motor, srt 6-mt transmission, active ehxaust (butterfly vavles near the rear resonators open to straight pipes on acceleration) srt gauges and electronics for a myriad of timers, performance pages etc. super track-pak program for the track, etc. no adaptive suspension like the srt and has 4-pot instead of 6-pot front brakes. This is my new daily driver, so no sleep lost. Same power as the SRT so I'm happy.

The 2010 had no major issues, no mechanical failures, and no accidents. Was a fun car and great daily driver.

Bought the car in 2011 for 30,000, sold in december of 2014 for 18,000 @ 81k and change

You already have your Scat Pack?

I'm waiting for the Charger Scat Pack and SRT to hit the market.

The 2015 redesign on both the Challenger and Charger look great and with the addition of the 8-speed to the V8's (I know, I know...) makes the Charger pretty much irresistible now.
