TexasLegacy2.5GT
That wagon is all kinds of ugly too.... There's cars so ugly they are kind of cute, or cool looking. But that....is just ugly. ^^^Lulzcow, that is too funny! Hey, come on now it's your turn to post a photo of an old school Subie!
eekay
I dunno... That rear door swagger is pretty bad-ass. Maybe I'll try something like that with a BD/BG... My 9.3 cups EJ22 makes me feel like my **** is 2.8 decimeters!

lulzcow
What I don't like is the uneven, somewhat wavy lines that run along the body towards the windows. I almost had a pic, of a 1st gen Legacy from our Subbie meet on Wednesday. But I didn't have my phone There is someone around here with an older style wagon, I'll have to hunt them down for a pic. 987687
Is that your car? How do you like the EA engine? That is my car. I love the ea81. No timing belts or chains to worry about. Very basic FI system, etc. It only has about 84hp though. That's the only downside. And for the note, ea82 sucks. They are just plain awful. So by saying I like ea81 does not mean ea82 is good. I hydrolocked this engine offroading in a mud puddle. I had forgotten my tools.... I used a come-along to get the car to dry ground. Used the starter to crank the water past the rings. A few more minutes of cranking and the engine sputtered to life. I drove out of the trail like this and got it home for an oil change.

987687
Thats not the case. Every engine has one or the other. Not true. It's an OHV engine, and the camshaft is under the crank driven directly by a gear. http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh46/hatchsub/Spring%20Carlisle%202008/Subaru/IMG_1601.jpg
I Donated broknindarkagain Posted September 13, 2011 I Donated Share Posted September 13, 2011 I didn't know it was an OHV engine....but still, most OHV engines are still chain driven. I've never worked on another engine (besides like a 5hp lawnmower engine) that had a gear driven camshaft. I know others exist, but not overly common. worknlikeadog
There is a little nissan parked at a junkyard that I frequent that doesn't have a timing chain or belt.
987687
There is a little nissan parked at a junkyard that I frequent that doesn't have a timing chain or belt. Is it a diesel? Some of those didn't. Or is it just missing the timing chain, and that's why it's there

987687
All I have to do is look out my window. And oh HEY! Found one And how could I have forgotten these! My friend's 86 brat and my 89 GL out playing. I actually blew up a front CV on this trip leaving the trails. No worries, put it in 4wd and drive home with RWD awesomeness. http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z314/987687/89%20GL/IMG_3840.jpg http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z314/987687/89%20GL/IMG_3829.jpg

Jab83
Dude that looks really cool jacked up! just wondering do the brats have the same 4x4 thing as the gls? or were they awd? I could get a 89 brat for 700 that runs. it would be a fun play car!

987687
He actually just sold it. That brat has a 5speed dual range. Not factory, a custom swap from a GL. And it has a custom fuel injection system from a newer GL running the stock ea81. Same ideas as the stock FI running the older ea81 in my GL.
