worknlikeadog
Yes but the 360 was a straight 3 I think
I Donated broknindarkagain Posted September 5, 2011 I Donated Share Posted September 5, 2011 No, it was a straight twin engine.....two cylinders...with a 3 speed manual trans. I just mean that it had the same engine / trans layout as the old VWs It had a whopping 16 horses when it was first released...and took nearly literally nearly a minute to get up to 60mph. However, it got 66mpg -broknindarkagain My Current Project - Click Here COME AND TAKE IT "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing." TexasLegacy2.5GT
Were VW and Subaru in any kind of collaboration at the time or was this a methodical effort on Subaru's half to meet the opposition? I know later on Porsche helped Subaru with some of it's Boxer engine designs only that was much, much later....
I Donated broknindarkagain Posted September 5, 2011 I Donated Share Posted September 5, 2011 I don't think VW and Subaru had any part of each other at the time. However, Subaru has partnered with almost every major auto maker in the world over the years. Their latest episode has been with Toyota. -broknindarkagain My Current Project - Click Here COME AND TAKE IT "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing." TexasLegacy2.5GT
Is it a coincidence that Subie shared the Boxer engine with the VW buggie and the Porsche 911 and even the looks in the 360 model? Just an observation. Who didn't love the Brat? http://i231.photobucket.com/albums/ee134/Rubenjc111/51E7F036-orig.jpg

TbirdMan
I was going to say a ff 1 but the mirrors aren't in the right spot it is an FF!, not all FF1-s had hood mounted mirrors. i am thinking it is maybe a USDM vs JDM thing? Anyway, the FF-1 was the first subaru to use the now so iconic H4 and longitudinal layout. Interesting tidbit i just learned, the FF-1 was also the first to be built in 4WD, albeit only 8 were made and were sold to an electric company and a village for municipal duty.
