I mailed them in like 2 weeks ago, but its a small family run shop thats local. And they went away for a week for vacation. There back and should be starting work on them shortly.

I'm in no rush, and I told them the same. I would much rather a quality job if they take there time then a crappy one if they rush.

That might work... Have to find a flat clear though. In a spray can of course.

When you find that flat clear, let me know... I couldn't find a think when I was trying to refinish my shifter surround (was looking for flat clear to go over the black)

Well done. In for final, final pics.

Thinking about doing this on my wagon, but with something a bit lighter weight-wise due to the 1) length and 2) complexity around that huge sunroof. Double benefit is that I can fix the sunroof open/close issues at the same time.

  • 1 month later...

Wow has it really been this long since I've updated this? I finished this a few weeks ago somewhat. I'm still waiting on the C-pillars from a local upholstrey shop, although they've promised me they will finally be finished by the end of this upcoming week. Finally!!!

Anyways, I don't think I mentioned it but when you remove the headliner you'll still need to remove the sunroof visor if it your cars equipped. This requires pulling off the drains at that back of the sunroof rails. It's a realitively easy step that I somehow didn't get a picture of.

Once you have that out though, you should be able to seperate the plastic trim panel and pull the fabric off. From there you can paint and start to recover.

Cover this panel and smooth out

Reinstall cover panel

From here you can reinstall back into the car making sure the little rubber feet stay on the panel. They isolate it from bouncing around above your head and preventing rattles. If you happen to lose them like I did on one. I just wrapped in electrical tape until snug. Worked like a charm.

Headliner in along with A/ B pillars and both the map lights and dome lights.

Sorry for the crappy photos it started to get dark and my camera was having a hard time focusing. For now I just dyed the visors, while my others are recovered by yet another local upholstery shop that was willing to take on the challenge of keeping the vanity mirrors.

There okay for now, but there not perfect. Hopefully the suede visors and C-pillars will be here shortly. I also need to pick up a new rubber gasket for the sunroof as I ruined mine.

I also wired in the Red LED's that I had installed in the upper console. There currently wired into the illumination fuse with a ground that goes back to my switch that turns on the illuminated cup holders. It's actually pretty trick.

With the dome light on:

There not nearly this bright however the longer exposure exagerates the look. I love them!!!

More pictures of the finished interior in a little bit! Overall I love it!

Yeah sorry it's taken so long. I broke my thumb playing dodgeball and couldn't do anything for a month or so. Purchased a new truck and sold another car. It's been quite a busy month but its finally finished. Sommewhat.

I think "real trucks don't have spark plugs", is perfectly fitting.

Diesel trucks are badass. Period. Does yours have a real 10-lug/22.5" conversion, or did the 3500's come like that?

Did you sell the mini?

They don't come like that.. at least not with 22.5"s.. IMHO, it looks ridiculous, those are the exact same size wheels on my semi-truck

Mini Sold on a Monday, Wednesday night I was leaving the dealer with the new truck. I was planning on picking it up either way but it just so happened the Mini sold in time. :)

I couldn't let this deal pass me up. 70k on the odo. 5 inch Banks exhaust and the 22.5 Alcoa's in a truck that was meticulously maintained by its previous owner and fully loaded at that. Receipts and paper work that all date back to the time it was new. It has even has had the injectors replaced under the factory service bulletin that was floating around a few years ago.

It's an animal! Mash the gas and it will throw you back in the seat! I'm thinking a programmer may be in it's future. Although it will stay realitively stock for the moment.

Yeah it has adapters for the 10 lug conversion and the wheels. There pretty hefty in comparison to the ones that I used to run on the LGT to clear brembos.

Come on over!!!

To be honest, I haven't done anything with it! Well aside from a few burnouts.

It pulls my tiny boat with ease but it's to cold to take that out at this point. Next year it's going to get some use though.
