Paint my brembos!

BAC5.2

Recommended Posts

It looks like I have finally secured a set of calipers. I had never intended to put gold brakes on my SWP car, and I still don't. These calipers, however, are red. I don't intend to put red brakes on my car either.

So now I need to decide what color to paint them. I know I don't want black, so that isn't really an option.

My wagon is SWP, and my wheels are very likely going to be STi BBS's. The wheels are gold now, but I'll paint them silver (probably using Duplicolor's silver wheel paint, and following the damage-repair DIY from the G35 boards).

I've had a few thoughts on the calipers. My initial thought was SILVER, with simple, black, logos. Kind of like the CTS-V calipers. I think it would look kind of classy.

I also thought of doing white calipers with black logos, but I wasn't sure.

Then I got the idea to venture away from the Brembo decals. One of my thoughts was to follow the MINES and Tommi Makkinen footsteps, and use a signature. My first thought was to Subau legend Colin McRae. Have the blue/white scottish flag, followed by his signature on the front calipers. And just the flag on the rears. I've got scottish blood in me, so that's kind of neat. I was thinking the blue/white sticker on a white caliper with a black signature. Or a blue/white sticker, on a silver caliper, with a black signature.

But then I realized that I already have CM tribute stickers on the rear quarter windows. So if I did the brakes, I'd have to pull the stickers off the quarter windows.

So now I'm at a total loss.

I had thought about having Doc make me some geeky engineering stickers, but thought that might be a little too much as well.

Any ideas?

That crazy blue that stoptech has.

And that should give you an idea of what the diff colors look like with decals, just replace them with Brembo.

I appreciate your insight Rob. I'll take it under advisement.

Thanks Xero, I am leaning towards silver right now, but I'm still undecided.

Green yea right...you can't believe anything he say's... LOL

How about purple ? just because it's purple, doesn't mean it's gay...not that there's anything wrong with that...

I like the silver too. In the next few weeks I'll be doing my oem calipers silver.

Actually, purple isn't a terrible idea. Something like BMW's Technoviolet maybe. That is one of my top 10 car colors of all time.

Or maybe British Racing Green (the dark variant that almost looks black) with creme colored Brembo decals. Or yellow decals...

I've seen them once, and I recall them looking good. But they seem like they'd always be dirty.

Doc - Do you have creme colored vinyl?

What color is that, Climber? Baby-poo-brown?

The ones I should be getting are actually red, at the moment.

I think I'll go Gulf Oil.
