Running at high RPM for extended periods like that super heats the oil and will cause it to break down, causing bearing failure. Only way it would be a valvetrain problem was if the valves floated and caused a retainer to fail or spring to break. This is basically the same valvetrain as the JDM STI that redlines at 8000rpm (iirc) so I think that's pretty unlikely. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
