I misread the OP saying "buying wheels over the winter" as "buying wheels for the winter". Still, light wheels aren't only good for racing, they improve every aspect of driving. The OEM wheels aren't exactly light weight forged Volks or anything. And they are much smaller than 18x8. Edit- right. +55mm.
