19MM Rear Sway Bar Install - Pics

Recommended Posts

I can feel the difference. Specifically, more stable on the highway. Before, my car seemed to float as if being hit by wind when it wasn't windy. Not any more. Also feels more stable in tight turns.

I still need to get mine done.

Installed this part on my 11 GT a couple of nights ago. Good impressions so far. Cornering is definately flatter and it handles alot better in my opinion. This is the way the car should have come from Indiana. Install is a 20 minute job (backed up on ramps) and is very straight forward, tighten what you loosened kinda deal.

For the guys who installed the bar, do you see a difference? I see a few posts about a more "grounded" feel. Just wanted to follow up after a few weeks of running with the new addition.

Most definitely.

Better cornering and less cross-wind issues on the highway.

I've got some install pics there, not exactly the same setup but you can get the idea what is involved. I've driving with mine for a while now and find it is a very nice improvement. Using KB links involved rotating the rear shocks 180° not needed with stock endlinks. Not difficult but more involved to be sure. When the weather gets warmer I may try a stiffer setting, not sure I'd want to try that with the stock endlinks :)

YES!!

But if you drive agressive, consider a stiffer RSB and endlinks. Look here for good stuff: http://www.infamousperformance.net/servlet/the-Legacy-GT-2010-dsh-11-cln-Suspension/Categories

How does the swaybar from them compare to the subaru branded mentioned in this post?

Anyone know?

Oh and thanks for the link Minuccims! I am bookmarking that. -edit2: omfg they have a ton of stuff, now i need to read up on what it all means, haha... never owned a car that was worth modding...

That is the swaybar in my link above. I can only compare it to stock not the upgraded one mentioned in the post. There are a couple of advantages to it. It typically comes with the extra bracing pictured:

and it's adjustable. The disadvantage is I'm not sure I'd be comfortable using stock endlinks and it does not look stock which may be a good or bad thing depending on your tastes.

16mm: Stock RSB (not adjustable)

19mm: Subaru upgrade RSB (not adjustable)

20mm: (Pictured by Peaty) Whiteline 3-pt adjustable RSB with support brace

22mm: (Pictured below) Whiteline 3-pt adjustable RSB with support brace

I have the 22mm set on the softest setting (I belive this is equivellent to 20mm) with OEM endlinks. Selected the Whiteline RSB with the support brace included: "The KBR15 Support Brace Kit from Whiteline is designed to reduce flex and fatigue of the original swaybar mounting components and increase swaybar performance. Suited for the rear mounts only and is highly recommended for upgrated swaybars."

I ended up selected the adjustable RSB with support brace to permit an upgrade path. Part of prebuy with RACECOMP springs. OEM endlinks to be replaced when springs installed. New owner of Waaazooo's 18x9 Rota G-forces with 245/40/R18s. I suspect once the springs are in I'll go to the next setting on the RSB.

I just installed the outback 19mm RSB on my LGT--the install was relatively straight forward. I can't really imagine screwing it up, considering how easy it was.

When I test drove the car, though, part of me thought that the car now had more roll through corners. I noticed more understeer, but I can't shake the idea that my car is rolling more. Perhaps I wasn't looking too hard for body roll before installing the RSB, and now that I've installed and begun evaluating it, I'm actively looking for roll.

Am I just being hypersensitive, or is it possible that I installed the RSB incorrectly in a manner that allows for more roll?
