New here, Eagle from Holland (Spec B)

Recommended Posts

Hello 'neighbours',

Since I just bought a Legacy wagon 3.0R spec B Executive (MY2006) I thought it should be nice to register myself here.

I live on the other side of the Atlantic, in the north of Holland, in a little district called Groningen.

For your info, very near to a place a certain Springsteen worked as a miller before he emigrated to the states.

'The Boss' his father, Douglas 'Dutchy' Springsteen, was a bus driver of Dutch and Irish ancestry.

Nothing to do with car's of course, but since I am a huge fan, it's a nice fact I found out a while ago.

Where all one big familie I quess. ;)

Anyway...

My former ride was also a subaru, and I owned it fot allmost 12 years......

It started as an normal Impreza GTT with 218BHP, but was rebuilt as a STI VI type-RA in 2006.

The car produced aprox. 320BHP then, and with it's very close ratio DCCD-gearbox and highrev engine (8052rpm) made it a very nice car to play with.

Some pic's of my old love:

Since we needed a bigger car, it was time to end the Impreza era, and look for a nice estate.

And after all those years of pretty hardcore driving, I could also do with some luxiory I can tell you...

After a long search, to my own surprise ended up with the old familiar brand.

For one thing, I could simply not find a car that gave me as much bang for buck as the Legacy.

They are pretty expensive when new, but I was amazed how much they drop in 3-4 years time.....

Another item was the AWD concept of course.

I have the car for one week now, but the weather here is not the kind you need for a nice foto-shoot.

So when the sun is back, I will place some nice pic's here.

For the time being I found some pic's of exactly the same car on a Dutch car-site:

The only modification I had allready done on the car this week, was having the std. backboxes replaced by two absorbtion-type ones.

On idle and cruising it sounds still very neat.

Under full throttle, and especially in the higgrev's it sounds now exactly the way I wanted it, and (with some imagination ;) ) it comes close to a 911.

I have no big modifications planned, other than placing an ALK and a heavier rear swaybar to reduce bodyroll and understeer.

For the rest I am more than satisfied, and am impressed with all the modern luxiory that I done without many years. :)

Greetz,

Arend.

Welcome, and congrats on the gorgeous wagon!

I'm of 100% Dutch descent, myself, although my ancestors came over to the States back in the 1880's, so I guess I'm just American now.

Seek first to understand, then to be understood.

In other words: SEARCH before you post!

Got some other (absorbtion-) mufflers, and made two movies.

IRL it sounds a lot more impressive, but if you use a good headphone with the volume on ''live' it will come more close.

My version has launchcontrol, so it keeps the revs around 5000rpm when you put the pedal to the metal.

Is this standard on a spec B?

Also made a movie of the dials when they start up.

Little update.

Driving around on snowtyres now, so had time to have the 18" wheels refurbed.

Two had some very ugly damages on the outer rim, and all four had some 'airbubbles' under the paint in the middle, round the centercap.

Had them powdercoated, and I am very happy with the result.

The are as new.:)
