Baddog Posted June 28, 2010 Posted June 28, 2010 I can't find a shop to make an exhaust here in Portland for my single port exhaust. I was wondering if a muffler tip would bring out the sound
LiCelsior Posted June 28, 2010 Posted June 28, 2010 nope just looks..unless u delete the muffler and add a extended tip from like magnaflow or something. something like this. http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/parts/35108_sm.jpg
Baddog Posted June 28, 2010 Author Posted June 28, 2010 So if I delete the muffler and have a shop weld a new one on I would?
LiCelsior Posted June 28, 2010 Posted June 28, 2010 yea delete the muffler. get new piping welding in but mated with a tip like that and it'll be louder. i myself like the boxer sound so i prefer doing a UEL header also.
Baddog Posted June 28, 2010 Author Posted June 28, 2010 I am stuck with Single Exhaust Ports and don't feel like pulling the block to put in Dual Port Exhaust. New piping for the mid pipe back isn't going to be easy. Exhaust shops around here are being real stingy.
Gire Posted June 28, 2010 Posted June 28, 2010 Get a muffler shop to install a Magnaflow muffler. They are cheap and plantiful and sound good. You can then choose whatever tip you like and have the shop weld it on the muffler. Voila, nice chiny new exhaust that sounds great.
Baddog Posted June 28, 2010 Author Posted June 28, 2010 And it will bring out a good sound even with the stock headers/mid-pipe? Any suggestions on the muffler and tip that looks/sounds good?
LiCelsior Posted June 28, 2010 Posted June 28, 2010 theres a few sets of single port headers floating around sl-i and rs25.
I Donated broknindarkagain Posted June 28, 2010 I Donated Posted June 28, 2010 I have a free flow Magnaflow muffler on mine (I have a pic thread somewhere around here you can look up). It sounds the same as when I had no muffler at all on it. There are two resinators before the muffler that give it a pretty cool sound. -broknindarkagain My Current Project - Click Here COME AND TAKE IT "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing."
Baddog Posted June 28, 2010 Author Posted June 28, 2010 theres a few sets of single port headers floating around sl-i and rs25. I dont feel like paying over 200 for a set of headers.

Gire Posted June 28, 2010 Posted June 28, 2010 Get a tip on eBay, tons available. Tips are tips, so go to Pep Boys or Autozone and pick out a tip you like. It will likely be a universal size that mates up nicely to the universal Magnaflow muffler your exhaust shop will install. I like dual tips personally (a single inlet to weld to the muffler branching off to two outlets). A nice classy but cool look that doesn't look ricey like a huge 4" canon tip. Something liek the T-564 on this website. http://www.toucanindustries.com/index.php?src=directory&view=products&submenu=Ractive&srctype=products_lister&category=Exhaust%20Tips&query=category.eq.Exhaust%20Tips&pos=15,15,70
Baddog Posted June 28, 2010 Author Posted June 28, 2010 I really like the T564 as well. I can't seem to figure out how to order it or the pricing.
amp27 Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 look ricey like a huge 4" canon tip. haha that funny. cannon... HA i like the sound i get with no muffler. but it looks tacky having the exhaust end at the axles. what would it cost to get about 2 feet of pipe and a cheap rice tip? any one see the pipe i made on cad? thats what i want.
Baddog Posted June 30, 2010 Author Posted June 30, 2010 Still not sure what muffler I want. Any suggestions
Baddog Posted June 30, 2010 Author Posted June 30, 2010 Magnaflow is what people recommend to bring out some sound.
Zues Marine Posted June 30, 2010 Posted June 30, 2010 id recommend the vibrant performance muffler.. i have the 1046 sounds amazing
Baddog Posted June 30, 2010 Author Posted June 30, 2010 Come with a tip? And where can I buy it ? Also will be using it on the stock exhaust.
Zues Marine Posted June 30, 2010 Posted June 30, 2010 yah it comes with a tip, lol should sound good nonetheless heres the site http://vibrantperformance.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=1021_1031_1053_1108_1196
Baddog Posted June 30, 2010 Author Posted June 30, 2010 Some people were saying they need to be tuned for back pressure and that they don't do shit but sound. That's fine with me about the sound part but I don't want to hurt the car but it seems like a crock of shit because how could it damage the car....
Zues Marine Posted June 30, 2010 Posted June 30, 2010 wtf? any muffler is going to be less restrictive than the oem one.. its not going to do anything harmful
