What is the deal here??? Am I the oldest LGT owner on the planet??? 65...that's right "Sixty-five"

http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/post-your-age-here-138339.html

When I bought it I thought of it as a "mature" move from the hopped up Impreza RS I drove before.....Looks like I have bought into the "Kids" group :):)

I think I mod less and less as I get older.....that said I would love to get an old Corvette to fix up as a weekend and sunny day ride. :)

To some extent that is true for most of us but I think as you get older the mods become well thought out and more tastefull. Gone are the days of rough riding, coilovered , slammed, winged (was never really my thing), loud exhaust etc. Now its all about tastefull, productive , high quality, performance enhancing without major trade offs. I am still a teenager in my WRX , but more of a grownup in the Leggy.

\Should I sell this thing and get something more befitting my age? Like an old Cadillac Fleetwood or a Toyota Avalon? I am planning on going stage 2 when my warranty is up if I'm not in a nursing home by then :icon_sad:.

rick

Rick I hope you are being sarcastic... 60 is the new 40, have you not heard??? Welcome to antioxydants, exfoliants, and viagra!

My mother is a couple years younger than you and sports a black on black STI.

No joke.

Installed an SPT catback and reflashed to Cobb stage 1 today on an otherwise stock spec.b. Sound is great and for the first time the acceleration is smooth as silk. I was feeling pretty good till I looked at a poll on the polling forum (lease vs. buy and age) and noticed that there is no one in the legacygt group over age 56 (and I am almost 60!).

Or the Viagra from last night. This is great, I am not the only old geezer on this forum. And my new SPT catback and Cobb stage 1 has me feeling (and driving) like one of you 20-something LegacyGTers. I feel like I did in High School tearing up the streets in my 57 Chevy (327, dual quads, exhaust cutout, Hearst shifter, 4-track tape, etc.) You have heard it many times on this forum but for anyone driving a LGT without AT LEAST a catback to get the sound effects and a stage 1 reflash to smooth out the acceleration (and add a couple HP) you are really missing something.

And great point peteyjr about the mods being more well thought out as you get older. Although the maturity and knowledge level of you young guys on this forum really amaze me. I really appreciate all your advise. And talking about good advise you have now got me real interested in my next mod, Whiteline sway bars.

I'm 60 next week, although my two Subarus are NAs since I get my kicks from a Boxster (no mods needed there). I do recall the time a couple years ago when I was lusting over a black STi in the showroom and my wife gave me the stare that said "At your age, you'll look ridiculous in this." I say go for Stage 2. After all, 60 is the new 40.

Hey, I'm 55 and pulled the mufflers off my 05GT wagon early last month. Not having any mufflers is, way cool. My 50y/o GF doesn't mind it much at all. She just rolled her eye's and said "kids" when I told her what I was doing.

305,600miles 5/2012 ej257 short block, 8/2011 installed VF52 turbo, @20.8psi, 280whp, 300ftlbs. (SOLD).  CHECK your oil, these cars use it.

Turning 50 this fall! The only thing better than turning wrenches is a good BM. Now days when I climb under the car to change the oil and realize I've got the wrong size wrench I just lay there and take a nap

61 here and i just recently de-modded my 06 LGT [324whp/320wtq 380 AVO with meth and all the supporting mods] back to stock so i can concentrate on my 08 Corvette A6 which btw has Kooks headers with catted X pipe, Killer Bee/Bee Hive cai and a tune 390 whp.

If i didn't have to put a new roof on my house this week for $8500 i would be seriously looking into a Edelbrock E-Force supercharger 550 hp!

Oh well maybe next year unless i can move some money around. ;)

It still feels like it did when i was 20 only i'm smarter now and have more money.

^^^:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:....

I never quite got to napping but after wrenching under there & the arms get sore I just lay under there for a bit & relax. No comment on the BM....(Hhmmm, well I do have a stack of mags in there...oh no the first sign!).

I'm 44 and bought my 07 LGT 5spd because they are practical, fast and fun to drive. I love that SPT exhaust and the turbo blow off sound with the SPT cold air kit for sure. My other car is a 69 camaro LS2 420rwhp 6spd , so modding the LGT much more will never give me rush the 69 does.

Really Max Capacity, how immature, now adding exhaust dumps that you can open and close from the comfort of your drivers seat (like I did on my 57 Chevy), now that is a much more mature option :).

But the LGT is so much more practical, even after modding. Can autocross on the weekend, take the family to dinner, and take the guys up skiing in winter in a blizzard (after swapping out your summer tires). Many people maintain three different cars (plus maybe a motorcycle sometimes) to cover all those bases.

heck no keep it.... just because you a older person doesn't mean you have to sell the car you enjoy. I know of a few subaru owners who are retired but they have some really nice wrx's, and foresters.

Enjoy the car :)
