I'll give you a heads up before one of the e-gorillas here decide to flame you. Don't post the same/similar post in multiple places. It's called spamming and some rude person will be a dick about it.

As long as CAFE regulations treat light truck classified vehicles softer on fleet average mileage regulations... it won't happen.

Outback is classified as a light truck.

Legacy wagon is not, and is more strictly regulated as a passenger car.

As long as that is the case, Subaru isn't going to risk the CAFE fines by cornering themselves behind stricter regulations.

That is why everyone sells CUVs, but hardly anyone still sells wagons or minivans anymore, and if they do, they don't push them. The sales volume counts toward calculating the corporate fleet average.

And yes, multiple posting of the same information is a waste of bandwidth in multiple locations, and tends to be viewed as bad form.

We've had this argument... and yours is weak indeed.

Subaru obviously hasn't had an issue meeting CAFE with a fleet full of turbos... and whatever they plan on doing to make the sedan meet the new CAFE regulations would obviously be applied to the wagon as well.

In fact... selling a Legacy wagon with the current generation would help IMPROVE Subaru's Passenger car CAFE by offsetting the 2.5i Impreza and all the turbo's and H6's.

The sad fact is that Americans won't buy wagons unless they are jacked up with some trim or cladding and called CUV's or SUV's.

Some do. How expensive can it be for Subaru to build a few non-Outback wagons when they're already built on the same assembly line and it's just a matter of the suspension and some trim?

They don't build Legacy wagons anymore in Lafayette... and considering the $$$ Subaru had to put on the previous gen Legacy wagons to move them after they sat around forever on dealer lots that didn't want them anyway... they probably aren't worth the trouble.

Just to clarify, they build Outback wagons at Lafayette, right? If so, would it be possible to allow customers to order wagons in non-Outback form from the factory? That way, dealers wouldn't have to worry about having them in inventory.

I'm sure it's not that easy.

I really don't understand the point of this thread. Do we really need an entire thread to B!tch about the lack of a standard legacy wagon? There are enough posts littered throughout all the other threads already.

Ouch, pointing out your ignorance must have hurt that you resort to your old good troll name calling. So boring.
