Fixt. Yes, you were in the drivers seat and f'ed it up. I know this. :D

Please please impart your great knowledge on how I f'd it up when you had it done in the wrong order. I did repeatedly what I was told "Pump the brakes.. pump the brakes... pump the brakes.. now stop".

That's what I was trying to say the first time. When I couldn't get the nipple off the rear you told me that day we had to start over since we started up front first. We stopped the day at that point and said we'd do it at the next meet. I just was hoping you hadn't taken the car out after that day without bleeding the brakes. That's why I mentioned it first and foremost in the TPE planning once you made the list but you said only bedding was left to do. :)

My bad then. I didn't know that it never got bled completely then. I thought that they just didn't get bled in the correct order the first time and then it got redone.

hey are done now and are nice again! I would like to buy some new nipples after this race so that we won't have the stripped out ones to deal with if we are ever in a hurry.

I hope you guys are getting as excited about the upcoming race as I am! I was researching some stuff for the Pony today and my heart was pounding just thinking about running it around PDX.

A side note:

I invited Joel to come and help out with the team. I offered him lodging, food, and travel for free if he came and helped out. I have a room he can stay in and he could drive the Black Escort GT to Portland for us as a parts car. Food will be easy to cover too since Nick is buying donuts for the crew.

Nick, you rock!

I'm really looking forward to racing with a GT motor and welded diff, for sure! Both of those should increase the ratio of passing to being-passed, which will definitely make it even more fun out there. :)

 Thanks Nate!

Still haven't locked in my room downtown as Priceline is being difficult this year on my 4 star requests for $70. 3 1/2 stars will do as long as it's close to VooDoo.

ALMOST all paid up to Aaron for letting me use his garage as a living space these last 6 months. Unfortunately I was given a better offer to move down the street and my rental payments of $100/mo will cease this Saturday. It's been a great run Aaron! Thanks for letting me into your garage but I don't understand why I could never come in your home. :iam:

I know we can all have a meeting and talk about the 'racing line'. I am sure all of us drive a slightly different line except for LegGTLT - he just goes hunting for Audis - on-road or off-road!

While it's important to know the racing line (because it's the least disruptive to the car's balance in the turns and therefore you can carry more speed out of the turns), that gets thrown out the window when you have 2 cars on your right and 2 on your left, you simply drive whatever line you can to make the turn.

Here are some of my suggestions:

1. Get the track map/turn guide. LuckyBob sent one out last year. I can send it to you on FB. You don't need to memorize everything that's written in it. At the minimum, know the turns.

2. Walk the track or ride the bike on the track with one of us. And we can go through the turns with you that you have read from #1 above. You can pick up some reference points for the turns. And you can also see where the flag stations are.

3. Get to know the car. Drive it easy on your first few laps to get familiar with it. As you get to know it better, you can experiment with braking a little later and carrying a little more speed in the turns. The Pony has phenomenal brakes and it handles great!

4. Feel the car in the turns, feel what the front is doing and what the rear is doing. Get a feel for where the balance of the car is. On Turn 6, you can feel the rear end rotating as you are accelerating and you can counter steer with the steering wheel. Everything is very subtle here. When done right, you will be rewarded with the car properly setup for Turn 7 - that is if you are driving the racing line. With the Pony, you can turn on the inside sharper turn as well - that's b/c a lot of the other heavier RWD cars can't! I am hoping with our new engine, we will be able to pull away and put some distance apart.

5. Whenever possible, do all your major braking and gear changes before the turns. Sometimes that's not possible when there's a car in front of you during the turn.

6. DRIVE YOUR OWN RACE. Don't drive out of satisfying your ego. Sometimes it takes a lot of patience to overtake another car. Keep your mental focus on which turn is coming up and what you need to do for the turn.

7. In the straights, every so often take a couple deep breaths and loosen that death grip on the steering wheel.

8. After your first stint and a short rest, practice some imaginary driving with your eyes closed and sitting down. Go through the motions of braking, changing gears, and turning the steering wheel. You will find it easier to commit to memory the turns. This will help your next stint or night driving.

9. ALWAYS BE SAFE! Drive as fast you can and as comfortable as you are with. After all, it's an endurance race. Remember we were the 7th slowest car but we came in 11th at the last Sat race. Anytime time we end up in the weeds or the wall or we need to make an unexpected pit stop for repair, we lose laps.

10. HAVE FUN!!! And I promise you that you will. I bet you already know that.

I'm reiterating some of the suggestions from Ryan's post as they speak to me personally. (Good post BTW Ryan :) )

This is going to be key with our new tranny being welded up. We will have to only hang on to the wheel while turning. Pick the gear before turning and stick with it. Also throttle through the corner without letting off. This doesn't mean that you have to accelerate just maintain with the throttle. The car will just pull. I think we will all find that we will be able to corner much better as long as the surge tank works...

Drive your own race and avoid Red Mist. These are the best things you can do. Our car/drivers are so steady and reliable compared to 95% of the cars/drivers out there that as long as you stay on the track and race your own comfortable/exciting/balls-to-the-wall race you will do wonderful.

Quick story: After my first run in the rain and having people pass me on caution and becoming surrounded by Red Mist (I even inhaled the damn stuff) I was not having any fun. After my second run I hit an Audi and felt like I should quit. After my third run on a sunny Sunday I screamed every Ricky Bobby quote at the top of my lungs, flipped off the Black Flag flagger on the front straight multiple times (accident, oops!), and never looked back. :dm:
