The day I met Ken Block

Recommended Posts

So the Lake Superior Performance Rally was last weekend, and I forgot to take the weekend off so I was pissed. Well turns out that on the Wednesday before the rally, Travis Pastrana's car, Ken Block's car, and Ken Block himself would be at Fox Motors in Marquette to provide some publicity for the rally. :) My girlfriend and I decided to go up to see the cars, and meet Mr. Block...or K.B. as she began to refer to him as... It was quite a cool experience. We were there a couple hours before anyone else, and got to talk to a guy from the Subaru Rally Team named Nick. He even let us sit in Pastrana's Car. Ken's car showed up a bit later. Having never seen a rally car up close before, I had a great time . Ken Block showed up later in the evening, walked in, and kinda stood there with noone really noticing him but us. So my girlfriend grabbed my arm and walks up to him and asks to have our picture taken. Then everyone figured out he was there...lol. He is probably the nicest "celebrity" ever. He signed autographs and talked to anyone that wanted to talk to him for at least two hours. That was when we left. All in all though, it was awesome; plus, now I have a special "Ken Block Signature Edition" LGT...

It's already been cleared in the pics. 6 or 7 light coats (VERY light or yes sharpie will run, badly) of Duplicolor Acrylic Enamel, let it set for ten minutes between, then two medium wet coats after letting the first coats set for 45 minutes. Then just because it's been so cold here for the last week, I let it sit in my apartment for 6 days to finish setting. I considered the lamin-x route, along with just using clear vinyl, but decided that careful clear application would be easier to get a good finish with. Oh, and sorry, not for sale...

I've raced with both guys a few times at K1 speed in Carlsbad and they are both really funny and BIG guys compared to how they look in pictures. My first race with Travis ever I was messing with him by nudging him as he turned into corners but he held it together and kept the correct end going forward. Towards the 3rd race we did he started being super aggressive and sadly this little Asian kid was in front of him and Travis gave the kid no mercy as he shoved the kid outside on the corner and pinned him into the wall backwards. It was funny for all of us but the kid looked like he was going to sh!t his pants.

The perks of working there was getting to meet lots of cool guys and have fun with them to.

I might have to remember that for the 100 acre wood rally coming up...

I'll be the guy walking around with a piece of my interior

NEVER ARGUE WITH A STUPID PERSON.

THEY WILL DRAG YOU DOWN TO THEIR LEVEL, THEN BEAT YOU WITH EXPERIENCE.

lol too cool, could always buy a second trim piece and throw that one in storage/safe or something. congrats though

Yeah I thought of that too. A new piece is $30ish, so if I do get rid of the car, I will just get a new piece and keep this one. I'll just add it to the price of the car...lol.
