mvigneau
I am actually waiting to receive samples from others and will be offering them in the For Sale Section if you are interested and don't want to have to make your own. Just a thought. But the part numbers from Hirose are: GT13-2428/1.6-2.9SCF GT13SC-2/1S-R GT13SC-2/1S-HU GT13-2428/1.6-2.9PCF GT13SC-2/1PP-R GT13SCN-2/1PP-HU No Silent CD Aux-In Solution
jp928
I am already on your list for a cable pair, but I am in Oz, so postage may be an issue, and getting impatient. If I can find the connectors here, I should be able to get some made up and move on. If I cant find them, I will just wait. Can I assume that the above list describes a male and female pair, and the internal pins as separate items in them? Thanks, jp

bemani
So you can't control the AC??
mvigneau
I can still control the AC. It just hides the actual temperature that it is set at (I use the auto). I can remove the iPod (without pausing it), change the setting and plug the iPod back in within 3 seconds so I am not too worried about it. phamilton
Do you have to turn the FM Modulator off when you want to listen to the radio? Are you still looking for people to purchase the antenna connections? Look great! I have been considering the use of an FM Modulator myself, this thread was very informative. mvigneau
The FM Modulator automatically turns off after 20 seconds. tu11ym0n
Well, here is the PDF of my iPod mini installation. I hope you enjoy because it took me a long time with a lot of hard work. Anyways. Get it here: http://www.pimpmyauto.com/Docs/iPod%20Mini%20installation.pdf i guess i'm dense but I didn't see anything in the PDF that shows how to install the FM modulator to the antenna. is this an easy process provided one has one of your cables? where is the antenna located and what needs to be removed in order to access it? thanks! mvigneau
You have to remove the radio and it is on the right side of the Lower Portion. It is easy to install just disconnect the 2 connectors in the car and connect each side to the other side of my cables and the other side of my cables to your FM Modulator. jp928
In case others are looking for more Ipod stuff, go to http://accessory.subaru.co.jp/index.html select "best selection for Legacy" then entertainment tab - there are several items there flagged with "ipod", and what looks like a Kenwood ipod interface - ipod with cable attached going into a small box, then cable out to some sort of connector..... jp

ADaniels
I'm still not clear on the FM modulator. Basically are you hacking into the antenna, and forcing your IPOD to play via the antenna? In order to listen to the radio do you have to unplug your ipod?
mvigneau
Yep...it force the iPod to play via the antenna. After 20 seconds of not playing, the radio will come back. There are also FM Modulators that actually have an input selector switch. No Silent CD Aux-In Solution
johnnysubaru
Very nice job indeed! Sure hope they'll come out with something for the Outback 2.5i 'cause that looks like a lot of work! Slightly off topic, but if you're not happy with your Motorola v710 (like I am) KirklandPackard & Verizon just settled a class action lawsuit from angry 710 users where I believe they'll refund your money for the phone (and accessories) if you bought it before 2/01/05. Details will be available later this month... http://www.kirtlandpackard.com/v710/
