March 4th SIA Plant Tour PHOTOS!!!!!

Recommended Posts

Well... here are some of my photos from the March 4th SIA plant tour. The tour was great and it was really nice meeting everyone. Thursday night, several of us met at a bar next to the hotel to have drinks and get to know one another. By 11:00 PM, we were up on the Purdue U. Campus at the famous Harry's Chocolate Shop bar having long Island iced-teas and having a blast.

The next morning, we all got up painfully early to meet in the lobby @ 7:30 AM. From there, we caravaned the cars across Lafayette and had breakfast before going to the plant.... Here is a description of the activities and some pictures...

The first place we got to see was the training center... where they had some cut away pieces for us to inspect....

Next, we headed over to the plant main entrance where they had a Tribeca (B9) waiting for us. We got to turn the keys and climb all over it....

The group with the Tribeca - Craig (iuksob03), Seth (SUBE555), Dennis, me (mccorry), (I forgot, sorry), Rob (Rao), Rob (RobCantron), Kris (my wife), and Ted (Praedet)

THEN... we had the plant tour. Camera's were not allowed in the plant, so no photos here, people. I can tell you that the plant was VERY clean and well organized. The line is truly an engineering marvel. Ted and I were amazed.

After the tour... we took some time to snap photos of the group members and their cars... along with one of our tourguide, Mike!

I don't think the other two people were associated with the group. While we were waiting in the training center, I thought I heard Mike say something to the girl about waiting for the other person in her group to show up. I could be wrong though.

Roof cross member: Hope this isn't a foul to stick this question in here, but in the plant did you get a good look at a wagon roof structure (non-limited)? I've been debating hard about an aftermarket sunroor (yes I know, bad move to not buy the limited if I wanted a sunroof that much) but very concerned about the structure.

Looks like you had a great visit--thanks for the pics.

Thanks for posting up Steve. I was about to put Rob's up when I went looking for names and saw your put a whole bunch up.

I had a blast! Nice meeting everyone.

*gloating* I got to start the B9! *gloating*

Too bad rao didn't stick around for the group picture. Must have had some hot lunch date back in Chicago. :p

I got my best mileage ever on the way back from the meet, calculated mileage of 26.7mpg (27.9 on the gauge) and I wasn't babying it either! Seems best mileage for me is had near 80mph.

We'll have to do a meet there in the near future like Mike suggested. :D Maybe should see if I can set up a Harley tour for him since he's a big Harley guy.
