tingtang
Well if u get a CAI its still gonna be pretty quiet.... I have a spt short ram intake and it roared... then I got a aem CAI and I could barely hear it.... maybe I just was so use to the spt but I could barely hear the CAI... grocery getter
Ok thanks for the heads up on the AEM CAI. Just arrived today some tasty bits... Grimspeed hi-flow ported + polished and ceramic coated cross pipe / exhaust manifold with 8mm manifold spacers! APS TMIC (20 x 6.7 x 4.5) waiting on the APS BOV and that should be it! All items are being installed next monday 04/20 at SUBA Performance!!! Can't wait... http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/jj134/JaeandNoelle/P4171692.jpg http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/jj134/JaeandNoelle/P4171693.jpg http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/jj134/JaeandNoelle/P4171694.jpg

praedet
Can you take a pic of that APS looking into the outlet? I am trying to see if the outlet is mounted in the center, or at the top of the TMIC...
grocery getter
Ted Will do - I went on line and found the DIMS for the Perrin vs the APS units. Perrin (20 x 7.5 x 4) APS (20 x 6.7 x 4.5) Looks like the Perrin is slightly longer then the APS unit in length but the APS is 1/2 inch thicker. I believe this will be the first 08+ Legacy Spec B with a APS TMIC... how's the open source tune working?
GTP
Jae if you are worried about heat soak-why not do an alky injection? Or like Marco and I did with our FXT's and install an STI intercooler mister. That way you can keep your top mount and teach the wifey to jab that mister button if she dips into boost to rub off that pesky ferrari...
05pearl
What does the "HTA" stand for on the FP turbos?
grocery getter
Hybrid version of the green - from their website.... Since 2002 The Subaru WRX and STI have enjoyed the power and performance of the Forced Performance FP GREEN™ for Subaru STI/WRX turbochargers. These "bolt-on" hybrid turbochargers redefined the boundaries of power and performance while avoiding the "rotated mount" type kits. The new for 2008 HTA update for the FP GREEN HTA™ for Subaru STI/WRX delivers an increase in maximum flow rate from 49lb/min to over 56lb/min without an increase in turbo lag, while also decreasing compressor outlet temperatures with better compressor efficiency than previous models. The FP GREEN HTA™ for Subaru STI/WRX turbo features a 8cm Subaru flanged internally wastegated turbine housing with 1 bar actuator and your choice of 3" compressor housing or the more compact 2.4" compressor housing for applications retaining the TGV setup. Free Subaru Gasket set with purchase of turbo!

praedet
Jae, Where did you get your TMIC size info? NASIOC has: Perrin: 20" x 7" x 4" APS: 20" x 7.5" x 4.5" And he is right, thicker does mean more flow capacity, but cooling can be much worse... With bigger, it also means it could be closer to the engine block, which would soak more heat correct? Any difference in scroll speed with the increase in size though, I wouldnt think it would be anything really noticeable if so... If I pass you on the right, I'm flipping you off. praedet
Most of the heat soak comes from the turbo, not the block... But yes, thicker will be closer to all the hot stuff. In theory, the larger passages should mean a little less resistance to flow, and a little better resistance to pressure drop, so spool might be SLIGHTLY faster
