Gator GT
can you swap a front LSD into a Spec b using the stock spec b tranny ? Yeah. I already had RalliSpec do it for me. OEM 06 STI helical. groff
Yes that's right B136 pin #18. It should be yellow wire with a red strip. It will be the 3rd connector from the right. As you look at the connector in the back of the ECU under the passanger side floor broad. http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l293/HAMMERDOWNGT/0728080559.jpg Yes black to black & white to green. Mike riddle me this third connector from the right: http://i211.photobucket.com/albums/bb173/LGTgroff/DSC_0008-2.jpg top shot http://i211.photobucket.com/albums/bb173/LGTgroff/DSC_0009-2.jpg bottom shot only one yellow with red stripe, and not in what i perceive to be the pin 18 position the other 2 pix are still uploading to photobucket

SBT
Honestly, if I ever get around to this, and I do plan to do it, I'm going to put both of you on a consultancy retainer. Keep up the great work and do document everything as well as you can for those of us who will follow. Your efforts are really appreciated. groff
i havent wrapped it up yet, possibly today after a golf tourny for work the weather has been crappy and demotivates me from working on the car. i've also got a leaky front axle seal, and haven't been able to get the clutch to bleed (not really that hard of a task, but something is wrong here). i should have a new clutch line coming in today and i'm hoping that the one i have is split which is causing air to leak in and fluid to leak out. if thats not the case, i'm not sure whats going on. groff
as of today we have our 3rd (I think) LGT cruising a 6sp swap (only one with an R180 and spec b axles though thanks all for the help!
clutch
As groff said, if you're going with STi axles, you going to have new STi hubs too, which you can't install on a LGT. Or at least a real PITA. Why don't just use SpecB axles? Those fit perfect for an R180. Sorry for the late response. I was thinking more that the STi axles may be easier to find and bigger than the Spec-B ones. Oh well. Hey Groff, when you installed the R180, what else did you have to change to get it to bolt up (ie the rear diff support correct?)?
HAMMER DOWN
That's good to hear. Hope you like it. I love mine. The R180 is going in as soon as I break or wear out my R160, 96K & counting. Mike Mileage:331487 Retired/Sold

Hey Groff, when you installed the R180, what else did you have to change to get it to bolt up (ie the rear diff support correct?)? nope, only thing i had to change were the axles and the driveshaft flange on the R180. I swapped it over to the R160 one so the driveshaft holes would line right up.
clutch
Hey Groff, when you install the R180 diff did you have to swap our the R160 mounts (the our riggers?). Starting to peace the parts together as my rear diff is starting to make noise. http://www.sebaru.net/images/Swap/Project%20Sebaru%20LRX%20Swap%20187.jpg The part on the left side of the photo. clutch
That awesome. Looks like all I'll need to swap is the diff (by changing the driveshaft connection plate) and just use Spec B axles. Everything should just bolt out and bolt in.
legacy3076
does anyone know about the R180 rear, if i do the 6MT swap and get that rear do i need the hubs that make it a 5X114 bolt pattern and that means the half shafts and the brakes have to go with also. Guest
No. I just installed R180 rear with SpecB axles. There are no 5x114 hubs that would fit BP/BL Legacy.
camber
There are no 5x114 hubs that would fit BP/BL Legacy. Has anyone confirmed if the front '08+ STI hubs won't mount up to our suspension. It looks like it will. I reeally wish that I could swap over to 5X114.
legacy3076
so if i was to install that would i just look up spec b axles or is there diff name for them. i can never seem to find parts for that car. lol thanks

clutch
The Spec B came with an R180 rear diff. So the axles, R180 should bolt up. In the next couple of weeks I'm doing this same swap. In my case I have a modified LGT driveshaft so I need to swap out the mounting plate on the front of the R180 with the plate from the R160. If you have the Spec B driveshaft you're good to go as it bolts up. I really wish the DriveShaftShop had upgraded Spec B axle...
groff
the spec b rear axles work with the r180 rear, change the driveshaft mounting plate on the r180 with the one from the r160 and grab a 2.5i driveshaft and you're all set.
