ycpgirl88 Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 Hey I have a 2004 Subaru Legacy 35th Anniversary Edition and was wondering if I should debadge the AWD and LEGACY. I did clone on photoshop to see what it would look like without those 'badges' on, and was wondering what everyone thought. Let me know. Thanks!
c-lo Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 how do you like it? that's what really counts no? but if you are going to debadge, take those paws off too. 258k miles - Stock engine/minor suspension upgrades/original shocks/rear struts replaced at 222k/4 passenger side wheel bearings/3 clutches/1 radiator/3 turbos
urs1ne Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 My cars always get debadged in the first week of ownership. It looks cleaner and I like the mystery. ^ n00bs below this line
scoobydoobie Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 IMO I'd debadge everything including the paws and the other decal.
BigInALegacy Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 I'd say naked... the car that is. What is the "other" decal anyways? 5 "HEART" I ????
ycpgirl88 Posted October 16, 2008 Author Posted October 16, 2008 It's not 5 heart i, it is S <3 I (my name is sarah my boyfriends name is ian, we've been together for 3 years)
DarkLegacy Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 How do you debadge??? canyou do it yourself??
BigInALegacy Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 It's not 5 heart i, it is S <3 I (my name is sarah my boyfriends name is ian, we've been together for 3 years) Aaah, gotcha. Good for you two. So I'm guessing you wanna keep that and the paws then. I'd say still debadge the other two. Easiest way (IMO) to get them off is to use pieces of dental floss and "saw" at the adhesive behind it. This way you don't worry about damaging your paint. Then use some "goo-gone" or other (paint-safe) adhesive cleaner to get rid of any residue that's left over. If they're tough to come off, you could put a hairdryer on them on hot for a few to soften the adhesive. Hope that helps!
ycpgirl88 Posted October 16, 2008 Author Posted October 16, 2008 Yeah I'd want the S <3 I...i photoshopped again to take away paw prints, let me know what u think
BigInALegacy Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 Perfect. No offense, but I wasn't really feeling the paws. That looks good though, now get yourself some waxed floss and some goo-gone and your good to go!

I will test it out!
ycpgirl88 Posted October 16, 2008 Author Posted October 16, 2008 Thanks! I'll give that a try this weekend....
BigInALegacy Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 Cool, let us know how it goes guys and gal!
urs1ne Posted October 17, 2008 Posted October 17, 2008 When I take mine off I usually wax the car so the paint under the badge and normal paint looks as close as possible. ^ n00bs below this line
ycpgirl88 Posted October 17, 2008 Author Posted October 17, 2008 good point...luckily my dad a couple days ago washed and waxed my car lol
ycpgirl88 Posted October 18, 2008 Author Posted October 18, 2008 So far I took off paw prints and AWD, looks really good...gonna take a break and save the rest for later. Goo Gone is a great product! Pic coming soon.
BigInALegacy Posted October 18, 2008 Posted October 18, 2008 Cool, glad it's working for you. And yes, goo-gone does wonders!
johnAWD Posted October 18, 2008 Posted October 18, 2008 Debadged back end for the win. I know it's not the same model year as yours, but the clean backside is so, well, clean. http://jsalmi.com/car/scaled.IMG_5383.jpg
JPU1 Posted October 23, 2008 Posted October 23, 2008 I did mine with a heat gun and fishing line. used rubbing alcohol to remove the glue, cleaned it up, polished, and waxed:cool:. Naked is the way to be IMO...
snow05gtRI Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 i've thought about debadging but only the "2.5" under Legacy 2.5 GT
BigInALegacy Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 I left "2.5 GT" Also transplanted a GT on the center of my mesh grill, and a 2.5 in the bottom right corner of the grill. Pretty sexy.

Naked is the way to be IMO... This would work equally as well... just a caution to members who try this way... be careful with a heat gun, it CAN melt your paint if your not. That's why I recommend a hairdryer. Less risk for the common folk.
urs1ne Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 I just wish there was something we could do with the rear subaru badge, even replace it with something JDM. I just dont want anyone to know what kind of car I have unless they are a Subaru enthusiast. ^ n00bs below this line
