Not sure if this is a repost, I did a search but found nothing recent...

Read the bottom of the post...

<pant wetting envy of japan begins>

Edit note the title should have been "an S402" not "another S402" haha

I have been CLAMORING for an S402 Legacy since before I bought a

legacy.

Of COURSE it is only for JDM market, par for Subaru's course.

Damn. If I had the money, though, I would import the parts, and turn

my Legacy into a Tuned By STI, or S402.

The 08 STI under the skin is FANTASTIC. it is just that the skin is

so damn ugly.

In the Legacy's sexier 4-door form, (not the WRX 4-door abomination)

the STI's drivetrain would be FAN-FREAKIN'-TASTIC.

S4, M3-4, G35-Sport or G35x (since you can't get both), or Lexus

IS-F... NAH.

Legacy S402, HELLS YEAH, and then a motorcycle to boot, for the price

difference under some of those other cars.

Brembos, BBS forged wheels on 5x114.3 hubs, Bilsteins/pink STI

springs, STI bracing and anti-roll bars, SI-Drive, 6MT with DCCD, and

305 factory horsepower, just begging for STI stage 2 treatment...

The only thing better would be a turbocharged H6 under the hood.

Perrin and Cobb have built a few prototypes, and get WELL north of

400hp and torque out of those.

Evo - not my cup of tea.

STI Spec C - nice for what it is, but not practical, on purpose.

Legacy S402... almost enough to make me go into debt for it. DAMN.

That looks like a 2.0 GT Spec B with an STI badge on the grille, and BBS REs installed.

one would think they could differentiate it a bit. I'll bet it is sublime under the unchanged skin, though.

At least a fresh front and rear bumper treatment... it is the S402, after all.

Edit: good catch on the autoshow pickup.

n00b question, but what does the S402 mean? And why is everyone so excited about it?

i think the BE legacy sti version was named the S401, and the generation before that was S400, so this is just the next generation.

apparently only 402 units will be made at price of 5.35 million yen (about $52k)

Thanks for the reply... and holy canoli, $52k?!?!? I love the Legacy, don't get me wrong, but for that price, I can prob take a GT to Stage 3 and have a bunch of cash left over.

+1, not sure if it's worth $52K, LGT is what, about $35k, you could do a lot of tuning with $17,000...

Also... a Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG with 451 HP is about $56,000... (I know it's a different class but still...)

Not sure they can put enough to make a Leggy worth $52k. I like the current LGT pricing as I get leather, AWD, performance and a bunch of other stuff as compared to a/an Audi/ BMW/MB (where at $32k, it's basically entry-level). But at $52k, you can actually GET a decent German car.

Plus the depreciation is gonna be really ugly.

You can get a fully loaded (non-spec B) leggy GT for high 20's... whats this 35k nonsense?

And what is the normal leggy cost in Japan? Cars always cost more overseas... I'd imagine it pushes 40k...

It's about 35k if you have it fully-loaded, just like how a S402 will prob be. I'm sorry (yeah, right) if we offended your "sensibilities" by trying to make the comparison of a S402 and LGT as relevant as possible.

I figured that with the tax and everything included.

If an STI hatch loaded is 39K I would bet an S402 will be 40-42K. For that I'd be all over it b/c you'd be able to pick it up around 35 would be my guess...but 52K is just nuts.

Just pinged my sales guy to let me know when/if he gets any info...:)

The S402 is build on the legacy platform, right? So it is like going for the Spec-B package, except this package has much more goodies, so costs more, but not 2x the price...
