RoundBoy
What are you buying the AP for ? More power? Cobb delivers, as do other methods Stuttering fix? Jury is still out, but generally agreed that it is solved in re-reading your train wreck of a post.. you are buying... but not sure WHAT you are buying? The basic is a re-flash of your ecu... and a method to change maps on the fly... As for reviews, etc... i would use the buttons you so lovingly posted an SEARCH! There are elevently billion threads on accessport issues / reviews / love I would be more concerned with washing your car w/ the scoop unplugged, and my money is better spend on a large turboprop fan for the intercooler. oh.. and just because: TEH ACCESSPORT PWNS J00! x eleventy!!!!111!!!ONEONE!!11!ELEVEN
sde
um, back to the topic, i wrote a review. i was happy with the AP, but just a little pissed that there was a bug in the AT realtime maps and i'm reflashing my new car to figure this out. since the problem is fixed, i'm going to give it another try. if my car won't start again after i upgrade, then the AP is going back for good. gtguy
"Snake oil" is the wrong depiction. The thing to watch out for on message boards is things that are heralded as the Second Coming. Nothing is as good as it is presented on message boards. So when people post "Hallelujah, I just installed the Stage 2 map and pulled on the space shuttle," take it with a grain of salt. If Cobb's Stage 1 presents a 10% gain, that's fine, and very nice. It doesn't make the GT a rocket sled. It's a little gain, that accounts for the stock-like time slips from Stage 1-equipped cars. A 10% gain might get you a tenth or two, but not much more. But if the everyday driveability is improved, then it isn't snake oil. Look at it this way: You could get a JDM rear sway bar and STi pink springs for about the same price as the AccessPort. It's in the ballpark of what other basic, not-that-intrusive mods cost. Whether it's fairly priced, or snake oil, only an individual purchaser can answer. But technically, a product would have to do nothing for it to qualify as snake oil. I'd like to see what the difference is given equal conditions and similarly skilled drivers. The numbers are very similar, except that the power comes on in different areas of the rev range. It'd be nice to see the 3.0R with a 5, or 6 speed too
red beast
build your own 3.0rrrr 4 days to dig up raw materials. 5 days to forge a car. 2 days to stitch the interior. 3 days to hammer the drivetrain. 1 hr to paint. yer done!
