moviemadness
guys what's the best? I'm planning on roadtrip from NY to Cali, and thought this would be a good time to get one..try to make it an easy access one so I can pick it up in either circuit city or best buy. someone suggested that I just get anything and return it in cali when I get there I wonder if I can still do this also, is there anything then I should do with the car before this roadtrip? I got an oil change in synthetic a few weeks ago, along with the 22500 check up. also my car is gonna be loaded with luggage. will this be bad on the car in general? tires? suspension? laz
This is what I have right now: [ame]http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0008G1RSU/musicso0b2484-20[/ame] And you probably do not need anything else. I mount it on the left side of me where the registration/inspection stickers go and it works perfectly. X ---
mickeyd2005
I bought a Garmin C580 for $350. I was impressed by its clear screen and easy to use interface. It has everything you could ever want... GPS, MP3 player, Bluetooth, and free 1 year MSN sub for traffic alerts. However, the proprietary mounting scheme really sucked. Also, the MP3 player didn't sound very clear. I'm returning it tomorrow.

bakasama
Garmin Nuvi 650 Just purchased this a month ago. I opted out of Bluetooth as I'm not a fan of phoning and driving. 1-3-2-4
Anyone know about one that would fit in the cubby hole? for an 05? I have a Dell pda in which I use my Gps mapping program on it.. but with a 5MT it's going to be hard to adjust stuff while it sits in my lap.. (I hate the vent clips) I saw this Kenwood unit but they don't make it anymore.. I think it was something Z-

If you already have a PDA, you can save some money and get a GPS receiver and nav software for it. iGuidance has worked very well for me. A bluetooth GPS receiver means you can put it on the dash for a quick GPS lock and strong signal. For a dedicated unit, most reviews have shown the Garmins to have better maps and routing logic than the others, but TomTom's user interface is best. Check your tire pressures. Adjust to higher pressures for the increased load.

recuomo
Ditto Garmin Nuvi 660 but all of the 600 series are excellent. The 660 has the FM traffic receiver but coverage is spotty. Poor in NY Metro area, decent in DC area, okay in LA/So Cal area.
BDII
Bang for the buck????? the Mio Digi walker is king. I have it, I love it! $200. You can hack it and put garmin programs in it, $200 for the unit, $50 for the Garmin maps (or get pirated ones for free), $20 for the memory card, and you have a GPS that plays DVD's and has the capability of a $900 Garmin GPS. Witzig
TomTom One for me. No issues, got it at Best Buy. I use the English bird "Jane" voice. My son loves it..... "then take the motorway". My wife just laughs at me.
FishingFiend
I've been using the TomTom 720 for the last month and it gets the job done. I would say it's on par with the Garmin's now, with the latest TOMTOM OS update. iPod controls, Text-Voice, Bluetooth Handsfree, Reel time traffic and slim form factor, are the bennefits. Being able to dial a point of interest from the touchscreen is cool. Mapshare sold me, never have your map go obsolete... I hardwired mine in with a Kudamount. Kind of blocks out the passenger temp control, but being able to control my ipod with my index finger in 5th is great.
