Just playing with ideas to do something different with the front grill. I think I like D and B the best. Color matching isn't perfect in these pics, but assume the painted grill parts are RBP.

Well... I went with option... E... lol. All black, and a dozen or so coats of clear. It looks blacker in different light, but in todays light, it looks kinda RBP because of the way it reflects.

Just noticed... I'm a moron and blurred the plate in these, but not the originals.... lol

for some reason, in the 1st pic of the finished product, the stock grill looks f'huge! i really like the way that looks! i also have rbp; might just have to repllicate this myself!!

great job! how many coats total (base/clear)?

I guess it does look HUGE in the first pic. Must be the angle. You should see it with NO grille in there. Looks like a whale shark feeding..lol

Total coats..? Hmmm..

Sanded

Two coats of primer

Smoothed the primer a bit with a dish washing scrubby to knock off the small crud that landed on it during drying.

I'd say there's at least 3 or 4 coats of paint, and 6 or 7 coats of primer.

The first day I had it on (without clear), I came home from work and there were two big nicks in it, right down to the primer. :spin: I took it off that night, sanded out the nicks and put another couple coats of paint and like ALL the clear.

It's a little glossier in person than in my pics because of the clearcoat. I don't mind it though. Wasn't really looking for flat black.
