RaGe
After installing the new wheels and tires the brake system is very visable. The rotors are how do you say butt ugly. you can see some rust forming on the area where the pad does not come into contact but is visable. Has anyone done anything to cure it? Like taping it off and black powder coating it or something like that. I thought that i remembered seeing a cover that went over it but i have been searching for the last couple of hours and havent even come across anything. suggestions? OTM. dark_rex
http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=55117&highlight=painted+calipers that's not what he asked for. He's looking for a solution for his rotors, not calipers. OP, I'm not sure you can do anything about that slim line where the pad doesn't get to. you can paint the hat though, and on clubwrx.net, there were some good pics of success with that. RaGe
yeah not to that extreme. I am just talking about the visable part. not the area in which the pad will touch. just the outer part. where the lug bolts are etc. OTM. Need4Speed
Maybe something like these brake caliper paints will work: http://g2usa.com/brake_caliper_paint.shtml http://www.duplicolor.com/products/caliper.html

ilh
After a little braking, the paint on the VW's rotor will probably come right off and it will perfectly cover the area not swept by the pads and look just fine (except for the horrendous color). FJuan
Assuming your talking about this area. http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid225/p0e0658265e42bd84e6d5b619836e91d7/ea4a8e2d.jpg I would just use masking tape and tape around the center. Then use a razor blade to trace the circles edge. Finish masking off the rest and paint. Dupli-Color would be my choice. My wife's balls are delicious. pdw
If you really want to do something about it, get new rotors and have them cadmium plated. They'll look like this. http://www.franzplating.de/cms-gfx/Cadmium/Cadmium1.JPG
