(or until my hands heal from all the scrapes & cuts ) So far it's not that bad down there...i pretty much only drive to/from work, so i know where all the false alarms are. If it goes off, I slow down anyway (if im speeding). Not a good idea to check the display first THEN decide if you want to slow down depending on the arrows. No clutter, straight business in a good looking format. What if you cut windows in the radio fascia mirror to the hazard lights button. I am going to change my initial design to something a little simpler to install and cheaper to replace if I mess up. I never thought it would look like that either... I am going to order an extra panel cover and cut the V1 display into pieces. I figure I can cut the panel so the arrows lay flush. The other lights i will make a small grove that an overlay can be used keeping the flat back appearance, but allow the lights to illuminate when being used. Placement would be the arrows between the RPM and Speedo. The signal count and type/strength would go to the left of the cruise/set lights. I am going to modify it first and then move to the gauge panel (which I will be ordering a test subject soon). I think the hardest part will be routing out the face of the panel to the depth of the overlay, so everything is completely flush. They're all surface mounted LED's, right? I was planning on using some of the OEM warning LED's for my WI project, but the surface mount ones might make it more difficult to solder in diodes and additional leads. But to be on the safe side I disconnected the battery before removing the cluster. Plus I didn't want to keep honking the horn while removing it. Plus I didn't want to keep honking the horn while removing it. i figured as much, otherwise replacing the cluster might be a huge warranty fiasco. how much space is there in the dash behind the gauge cluster? crazy idea: would it be possible to mount the remote display in a diy HUD sort of manner? granted it'd take a lot of work...but it'd be amazing if it worked. and something i meant to mention in my first post, awesome project!
