RacingFish Posted September 14, 2006 Share Posted September 14, 2006 Ive been saying it for months now on nasioc that the 2008 sti (only) is going to be a 5 door... the wrx is still going to be the 4 door. the car supposidly looks like a baby IS lexus (how much smaller can you get?). it is going to be based on the legacy platform but is going to be around the same length as the current model. subaru is going to be cutting the front and the rear to keep the same length. so longer wheel base shorter over hang. so the first year the sti will only be a 5 door subaru is going to see how it sells. if it doesnt do to well look for a 4 door sti to come out for 2009. at my last subaru training that i attended last month i asked if we will see the STI tuned LGT or forester. there was a big negative on that. ohh well ill take that 2008 lgt anyday Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I'm sure the STI will be more then competetive, but on the softer side of the razors edge. Like now. We are talking about performance levels that will never be used on the street anyway. Subaru just hasn't learned the art of "leaking" enough info to get a buzz started. They haven't done an '08 Impreza "concept" like Mitsu has done with the X "concept". I think Subaru needs to learn how to create and perpetuate buzz. They need to use more "concept" cars to test reactions to designs rather then just dumping a new model on the world and having to restyle in 2 years because no one likes the way the car looks. I don't mind Subaru's styling, and don't place it high on the list for choosing a car. But many other people make it the number one reason for buying a car. rsholland Posted September 15, 2006 Share Posted September 15, 2006 i dont think it's a subaru, the grill is square, subaru's grill is round the GTI in the background also means something, why would subaru be test driving the car and have a GTI with it and why isn't the car right hand drive, why would they make a model for left hand first and not a right hand for Japan. Japan would be the first ones to get the new redesign Imprezas so i think they would make a right hand first not a left hand. It's a Subaru. It shares the same license plate number as a couple of previous Subaru test mules. Need proof? The center counsel is a little diff. shift boot area is no longer a squarish bezzel... its more round. and black. no compartment sliding compartment cover for drink holders. brushed aluminum accents now extend across glove compartment from center counsel. all in all its a lot more classy looking. so i think. "Unfortunately I don't have much information about the new impreza. It's funny how we as employees don't have much information regarding the style, hp numbers or much of anything else for that matter. The only thing that I know is that it's only going to come in a hatchback style. I've heard the only reason for this is because Prodrive wants to run a hatch in the WRC program. Although I would look for the STI to have a nice butt. You'll see what I'm talking about. But no, we haven't seen the car in person or in photos other then what you have seen with the spy photos." Not a production car. ...and unlike most concept cars... there's nothing about the design that can't make production. a tell tale sign are the side mirrors.
