rfd425
Michael Schumacher. Like Senna, a dick of a sportsman on the track sometimes but a helluva human being off of it. Autoweek reports the Big Schu gave $50 million to charity from 2001 to 2005. Not sure if this includes the $10 million he donated towards the Tsunami relief effort in Asia a few years back. Way to go Michael. Being a swell guy is better than 7 (or 8) World Championships by a longshot. Agreed. It seems that he keeps a very low profile with his donations as well; it's not a PR thing with him. Compared to his income/net worth, it's generous, although maybe not extraordinary. It's certainly more generous than a lot of rich sportsmen are, though. I still hope Alonso wins the championship.

KartRacerBoy
f1anatic, did you see the picture of the Bridgestone engineer I was talking about above? Thoughts? I never heard of the barge board drama being a smoke screen for tire soaking (which was legal in karting. maybe I'll bring some to the indoor karting arena for my kart if I ever get to Chicago!). ElCoyote
Michael, don't wuss out on us. Give us what we've been waiting for since 1994. A decent teammate that can push you. You'd still come out on top; Kimi might get the odd win, but my bet is you'd pull it off. Oh sure, you might have to take him out in the last race of the season to win it if I'm wrong about Kimi, but you're 50-50 on those moves, so I'd say it's worth the risk. And you obviously have no moral hinderance to knocking people off the track. Go for it! Michael doesn't have the balls and has been spoilt by superior equuipment. Why would he expose this advantage to the world. As you rightly point out a kamakazi at the seasons end is familiar terriority to the Cobbler. But now "we" are all awake to his teutonic habits. May the series be formatted where the best driver wins.

The early days at Ferrrari demonstrate that.
FJuan
This is the best season yet! Did you see Alonso face on the podium after the China race, he looked so pissed off. Micheal and Alonso are tied for 1st with only two races to go. Who wants to make bets? My wife's balls are delicious.

rfd425
^^Sweet site, thanks for the link. The way it works is that contracts are priced between zero and 100. If the event being speculated on happens, the contract expires at 100; if it doesn't happen, the contract expires at zero. The contracts are worth $10. So, if you buy one contract at, say 35, you are betting $3.50 and upon expiration the contract will either be worth zero or $10. You are not betting against the house; it is an exchange, where someone is taking the other side of your trade/bet. I bought 25 contracts on Schumacher @ 39.5 before Monza, mainly so I will be less upset if he wins the championship. After Monza, Schumacher's price went up quite a bit, and I sold five contracts at an average price of about 61. So, I'm still holding 20 contracts, and I have a small paper profit. At this point, if I hold the remaining contracts until the championship is decided, I am risking $79, and I stand to win $121 if Schumi wins the title (20x$10=$200, minus my original $79). I still hope Alonso wins it, however. It is a great site because you can bet on events that are in progress, right up until the end, with the prices constantly changing. Also, the odds tend to be a lot better than a sports book, because you are betting against another public player, not against the house.
rfd425
Aw, what a crying shame that Michael blew his engine. http://www.mazdas247.com/members/LinuxRacr/smiles/cabpatch.gifhttp://www.mazdas247.com/members/LinuxRacr/smiles/cabpatch.gifhttp://www.mazdas247.com/members/LinuxRacr/smiles/cabpatch.gif http://www.mazdas247.com:8080/smilies/poke.gifhttp://www.mazdas247.com:8080/smilies/poke.gif http://www.mazdas247.com:8080/smilies/band2.gif Michael deserves to go out as a loser, and it is only by manipulation on the part of the officials that he was even able to make the 2006 title race appear close. PhilT
May the series be formatted where the best driver wins. You should watch Nascar then, F1 is about technological advancement as well as drivers, it's a race between the manufacturers to produce the fastest car then put the fastest driver in it. KartRacerBoy
It's a shame Michael's engine blew in Japan. A nice title chase almost certainly ruined, despite FIA and Monza stewards' manipulation of the points. But I bet Michael is 1st and Alonso just cruises behind him in Brazil. Tee hee hee.
