Looking for new horns

I bought the Twin Magnum from them (check link above). I am also going to add one Stebel Nautilus Compact. However for that one I found better price here:

Stebel Nautilus Compact Dual-Tone 12-Volt Air Horn, 139 dB: Discount Motorcycle Accessories from California Sport Touring, Inc.=

CST has the best prices on those and a lot of motorcycle gear. Did you install it in the stock location, or in the grille? I have one on my motorcycle and want to put one on my wife's minivan and possibly my OBW.

Twistedthrottle.com in RI stocks them, but you have to pay sales tax if you pick it up. Their price is $39.95 but they ship faster if you're on the East Coast than CST.

Right now I have the Hella Compact Trumpet horns mounted in the stock location. They're said to be less directional than the SuperTones, and 110db. Basically they sound like a big old Buick.

The Stebel Nautilus is much louder and doesn't have a delay like most air horns. You can find [ame=http://youtube.com/watch?v=WD7CDrQY-OY]many clips on youtube[/ame]. But as they have to be mounted within 15 degrees of upright, I'm not sure it will work in the stock location, especially since they'res only one mounting tab. Also, a lot of bikers complain they don't last as long as disk horns, especially if mounted so they suck in dirt, bugs etc. Finally, because they are designed for motorcycles, they have two wire connections: motorcycles don't usually ground things to the frame because many of them have dissimilar metals. So you have to make a ground wire.

You can buy pre-made wiring harnesses with connections for the stock horn, a relay, and battery connections for $20-30. I bought one for my bike from Eastern Beaver.

I put a pair of Stebel Nautilus where the resonator box goes. Worked out great and loud as snot (not that VVG will read this nor reply...he pretends I don't exist which breaks my heart)

Does anyone have an example(pics maybe) of how they mounted their Hella Supertones behind the grill?

Where did you source the metal bar needed to mount horizontally?

Thanks!

I found a scrap bar sitting around my garage. I know Lowes and other such hardware stores sell metal stock in about 3' lengths. You just have to get a good drill bit to put 3 holes into it.

It's an old thread so some of the pics don't work, but if you read through most of it, it looks like you can get a pretty good idea.
