Prius Racing ? LOL

Although street racing stories about LGT's are banned on this forum, the Prius owners don't seem to be worried about it. This thread is a "hoot'. Prius owners bragging about racing and "beating" Mustang 5.0's and Kawasaki sport bikes. They actually seem to think that if they pass one of these "faster" cars that they've "won" a street duel. Probably the only reason they've "won" is because the other driver was laughing so much they couldn't push the gas pedal!

P.S. Better be careful the next time you come up next to a Prius at a stop light!

Wow! What hillarity and the grammar/spelling made it hard to discern who was beating whom. Beat a 240SX to 107. Tops out at 108...and it traps at 78 @ 18.1...lol...now that's smokin'.

Now that's fast. Even from a roll with the CarerraGT, still slicked it.

Just checked the latest Road & Track Performance summary and the Prius does hold one record: It has the slowest listed 0 to 100 accelleration time at 46.0 seconds and has the second lowest top speed at a tested 101 mph. The only thing listed by R & T that has a lower top end is the Ford Escape Hybrid at an even 100 mph.

Fo comparison R & T lists the 06' LGT Spec B at 14.0 seconds for 0-100.

Therefore: Since the Spec B reaches 100 mph a full 32 seconds faster than the Prius it will be about 1689 feet ahead or ONLY 112 car lengths. About enough time for the LGT to come to a full stop and then accellerate to 100 MPH again and still be ahead of the Prius.

This happens to me pretty often. On my commute, there's a part where you get on the straight highway after the curve ramp. For many times, right after the ramp (I'm usually doing all electric throughout the ramp), cars will immediately change to the fast lane while I always stay in the middle lane. I guess they are trying to pass me. I just step on the gas about half way and get up to 65~70mph pretty quick. Most of the time, they will just move right behind me after they find out they can't pass me and the speed is already 70mph. I never find out what those cars are since it was dark and I only see their headlights. http://priuschat.com/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif Occasionally, some cars do 80's and just stay in the fast lane.
