Mach V Dan
So, long ago when we got our first STi-style Brembo kits from Brembo, we inquired about Legacy fitment. "Won't work," we were told. "Parking brake is wrong and the brackets can't fit the rear carrier." So much for that. But...I did some measuring. Then today I did some test-fitting. Voila! A little work with the die grinder, and they bolted up. Turns out the thing about the parking brake was wrong -- that fits perfectly. (Looks like it's the same parking brake mechanism as the WRX has.) But the caliper brackets would NOT bolt up. The mounting bolts bumped into part of the rear spindle. Grind there for clearance, and we're good to go! Oh, and of course you have to remove the stock dust/splash shield, since it's too small for the new big rotor. So, you CAN fit our STi-style Brembo kit on the back of the Legacy. Some frequent questions about this: Q: "I got take-off STi brakes. Can I bolt them on?" A: No. The STi has a different parking brake with a different inner rotor diameter. Q: "So then how does this kit fit up?" A: It uses a special hybrid Brembo rotor that's STi-sized on the outside, WRX-parking-brake-sized on the inside. Q: "Okay, so I need your special Brembo rotor, which you must sell, because the people who buy your kit will eventually have to replace them." A: Even with the special rotors, you won't be able to bolt the Brembo calipers to your Legacy. You'd need an adapter to bolt the calipers on. That also comes only with the kit. Q: "Exactly how much grinding are we talking about?" A: It's minor work with an air-powered die grinder. A bit more work with a Dremel tool. Q: "Why are you only talking about the rear brakes?" A: The front STi-style Brembo kit fits up fine, and we have always known that. This other stuff about the rear brakes is new info. Pictures to follow. --Dan Mach V FastWRX.com

Mach V Dan
What year make and model is the originally off of? This rotor is not found on ANY production Subaru. It's a Brembo special part for this kit application only. --Dan Mach V FastWRX.com
Why
Fitted mine today as well using genuine Brembo adapters no mucking around at all just bolt straight on.....Just for the record the Brembo adapters were sourced from Brembo in the USA
washburn33
You mean to tell me that brembo made this rotor just for this kit, and its not oem for any other application.
edmundu
You mean to tell me that brembo made this rotor just for this kit, and its not oem for any other application. All they do is press in a steel insert. To reduce the drumb diam. from 190 to 170mm. There are also custom parking brake shoes that have the correct spacer's added. This would allow you to choose any Sti replacement rotor, rather than being limited to Brembo's, or without having to cut the old rotor in order to retrieve the insert. Mach V Dan
Here's some installation pics: Drilling out the spot welds to remove the dust shield. It's welded on to the backing plate. http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y249/danhurwitz/Products/Legacy/RearBrembo009Medium.jpg You have to do some grinding here to make room for the bolt that connects the caliper to the Brembo caliper adapter. http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y249/danhurwitz/Products/Legacy/RearBrembo013Medium.jpg Once there's room, the bolt will fit up cleanly. http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y249/danhurwitz/Products/Legacy/RearBrembo014Medium.jpg The rotor: http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y249/danhurwitz/Products/Legacy/RearBrembo007Medium.jpg The caliper (comes loaded with pads) http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y249/danhurwitz/Products/Legacy/RearBrembo010Medium.jpg The whole shebang bolted on: http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y249/danhurwitz/Products/Legacy/RearBrembo015Medium.jpg Not pictured: Hooking up the brake line.
