jazzymt
Uh...does anyone else's wipers look like this? In 12 mos of ownership (12,600 miles) mine have completely fallen apart. I use RainX wiper fluid, nothing special. The only other thing I can think of is that after about 6 mos. they were sucking and I mentioned it to the dealer. He says they "stripped the windshield" which helps so I let it go for awhile. 6 mos. after that (now) they're toast. Front Passenger http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c161/JazzyMT/wiper2.jpg Rear Wiper http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c161/JazzyMT/wiper1.jpg Front Driver is also starting to rip at both ends, but it's small and hard to take a picture of...wtf? jazzymt
Yea, I know they're covered. Dealer will be replacing monday, my thought was just - Jeez! 12 mos and they can fall apart that much?! FWIW, the car is not garaged...and there is a refinery in my town...perhaps related? I wanted some feedback before revealing that tidbit though in case it's not related. firedawgs
I agree the stock wipers suck, but having it replaced under warranty is alright. Updated my vBGarage:
Opie
Did your car sit on the lot for awhile before being purchased?

UV exposure deteriorates them, air pollution also contributes.
Scotty
Last time I used Rain-X on the windshield, the wipers shortly went. I remember hearing this was common. I usually put Rain-X on all the glass except for the windshield.

intercede007
what's the big deal...they're wiper blades..I go through 3-4 sets a year Right? In fact, I've gone 12,000 miles on mine and I thought to myself last night "Wow..these wipers have lasted quite a long time!". I wouldn't have thought to have the dealership replace whipers under warranty.
mwiener2
i always change my wiper blades long before that happend to them.....with the exception of the rear wiper which i don't really care about My Mods List (Updated 8/22/17) 2005 Outback FMT Running on Electrons
jazzymt
Well, I'm not sure what wipers you normally use, but the last set I bought for my previous Outback were like $60...and they held up just fine for 2.5 years until I sold the car. That's not the kind of dough I want to spend on wipers 3-4 times a year. These ones (OEM) were sucking before 6 months were up. I guess that's just to be expected for OEM eq...as others have said, oh well, they will be replaced at Subaru's expense, probably a couple times, before I put some decent ones on myself.
