Note says that periodic inspection and replacement of the camshaft drive chains on the 3.0 Liter models are not required. 3. [b]Engine oil (Only 3.0L)[/b]: recommended at: 3 mo/3,000 mi, 7.5 mo/7,500 mi, and every 7.5mo/7,500 mi thereafter. Under severe driving conditions, oil and filter should be changed every 3.75 mo/3,750 miles. Apparently the Boxer4 doesn't need that initial change at 3 mo/3,000 mi. 4. [b]Engine Oil Filter (Only 3.0L)[/b] : same as #3. 5. [b]Replace engine coolant and inspect cooling system, hoses and connections[/b]: Perform serice every 30 mo/30,000 miles. Note says that to prevent cooling system leaks, always add Genuine Subaru Cooling System Conditioner (part no. SOA635071) whenever the coolant is replaced. 6. [b]Fuel system, lines, and connections[/b]: recommended inspection at 30/30k, 60/60k, 90/90k, and inspect/correct/replace if necessary at 120/120K. In severe conditions, inspection at every 7.5/7.5k. 7. [b]Fuel Filter[/b]: recommended replacement at 30/30k, 60/60k, 90/90k, and replace at 120/120k. Note says that when the vehicle is used in exteremely cold or hot weather areas, contamination fo the filter may occur and filter replacement should be performed more often. 8. [b]Air Cleaner element[/b]: Recommended replacement at 30/30k, 60/60k, 90/90k, 120/120k. In dustier conditions, it shoudl be replaced more often. 9. [b]Spark Plugs[/b]: 3.0L and Turbo: Replace at 60/60k, 120/120k. For all others: replace at 30/30k, 60/60k, 90/90k, 120/120k 10. [b]Transmission/Diff. (Front adn Rear) lubricants (Gear oil)[/b]: Inspect, correct or replace if necessary every 30/30k. Note says that in severe conditions, replace every 15k miles. 11. [b]Automatic transmission Fluid[/b]: inspect, correct or replace if necessary every 30/30k. Note says in severe conditions, replace every 15k miles. Also says that the ATF filter is a maintenance free part. The ATF filter needs replacement only when it has physical damage or if the ATF has leaked. 12. [b]Brake fluid[/b]: Replace every 30/30k. In high humidity areas or mountainous areas, change brake fluid every 15/15k. 13. [b]Disc brake pads and discs, front and rear axle boots and axle shaft joint portions[/b]: Inspect, correct or replace if necessary every 15/15k. In severe conditions, inspect every 7.5/7.5k. Note says that a tire should be replaced when the tread wear indicator appears as a solid band across the tread; this occurs when the remaining tread has worn to 0.063 inches (1.6mm) or less. Severe driving conditions are as follows: a. Repeated short distance driving. b. Driving on rough and/or muddy roads. c. Driving in dusty conditions. d. Driving in extremely cold weather. e. jp928 Posted September 12, 2005 Share Posted September 12, 2005 Hmmmm. At 12.5k km service, dealer gave me a bottle (250ml/8oz) of fuel conditioner, to be added at 18.5k km. Spinjockey Posted August 22, 2006 Share Posted August 22, 2006 The chart above doesn't match the owner's manual in there it says "except Legacy/Outback" under replace fuel filter. My.subaru.com only lists "Recommended Inspection: Fuel systems, lines and connections". Given it's integrated with the fuel pump I seriously doubt it's meant to be replaced.
