FS (RI): JDM OEM Xenon HID ballasts

Recommended Posts

Out of my JDM headlights, 2 OEM Xenon HID ballast modules. Subaru OEM part # 84965ae020.

Good condition, clean, no rust. Took out of working JDM headlights. Power wires will need to be connectorised to your application, or repin the existing connector.

Bulb connector is D2S bulbs which is OEM.

See pictures for details.

Asking $80 OBO + PP + shipping for the pair. Want to sell as a pair.

What did you replace these with? free bump.

I went full LED module swap with Hella3 replicas. Something I wanted to try for a long time and finally everything came together.

I will do a write-up on that swap at some point while memory is fresh.

Okay, I will bite, but I need to ask the stupid question.

Are those high or low beam?

And can they be used in a normal USDM housing? I will grudgingly admit the OE headlights are only okay.... I really do not want to go to HID's but will consider it as an option.

OR: PM me and let me know about your experience with the full LED conversion. I would much rather go that route, but my limited experience using LED bulbs in the USM housings (Good quality bulbs....) was less then awesome, so I'm at a loss about what the next move should be.

These ballasts are low beams but they won't work with USDM headlights housing. On JDM headlights they are located inside the housing itself and are sealed from elements, plus there is a mounting location there for them, and sealed access cover. On USDM housing none of that exists.

I did use LED bulbs for years and have had good experience with them. Probably between OEM halogen and OEM HIDs. Full LED conversion of course is better but also much more work.
