ashwinearl
I had a Cobb metal heat shield. It was always coming loose, rattling, and finally broke at the a bracket very similar to this post. Currently, I have nothing on there. It is a 2005 LGT Wagon and does have aftermarket Grimspeed TMIC. What is the general consensus on what to use, or not use these days? bdcvg
I gotta think any effort to keep heat away from the TMIC is worth it. Just get a new shield.
Enlight
I moved away from the shield because mine broke as well. The blanket has a better ability to contain the heat in the turbo and away from the rest of your engine bay. muFreight.co A JDM Container Sharing Service from Japan to NYC Website | Instagram | Email Bessie II's Thread

Infosecdad
For my JMP VF-52, I have a PTP lava blanket under a stock heat shield, and an STi heat shield (with reflective tape underneath) on top. Has worked great for several years now. Edited July 21, 2022 by Infosecdad

whitexc
I'm thinking blanket as some or all of the bracketry for the stock shield was left off during my re-build.
