DaveWaters
Yeah.. I’d think the interference would be noticeable that many teeth off.. Can you think of anything you may have disconnected and overlooked while putting everything back together?
xt2005bonbon
did you actually count the number of teeth between the pulleys as per the FSM?
GrizzlyBear
No I didn't count the teeth I just lined everything up. I'm goi g to have to tear it all back appart tomorrow could being off a tooth or 2 cause that slow weird crank? Also is it possible to not pull the radiator back out to redo the timing? I don't want to waste the new antifreeze I just added lol.
DaveWaters
How about coil plugs? Black to the back.

I have changed the timing belt four times I think, and I never bothered removing the radiator/draining, etc.. How about coil plugs? Black to the back. Totally. Check that! GrizzlyBear
Oh yea I've taken thoes damn things off so many times I could do it blindfolded lol. I'm really thinking I'm just off on the timing. It just sounds like like the timing is off. And I'll recheck all the connectors just to make sure.

DaveWaters
Did you try to start it more than once? Reason I ask is after a battery disconnect, you need to let the gauges sweep before cranking.

GrizzlyBear
Yea I tried to start it 3 times same affect happened slow weird sounding crank. If for some reason redoing the timing don't fix it and it's still doing the weird crank I'll take a video of it and if I remember I'm going to take pics of the timing marks when I get it all set back up. GrizzlyBear
Got everything retimed and took pics and vid because it's still doing the same thing. The site isn't letting me upload anything though
xt2005bonbon
mmmh. Now, I don't know what else to check....
GrizzlyBear
Is there anyway that I can send you the pics and vid the site is messing up?
xt2005bonbon
if it does not let you post the pics, then they are too large (too many pixels in width/height). As for the videos, you should just post the link (e.g. youtube link).
GrizzlyBear
The pics isn't to big. I'm getting a weird error but I can put the vid on my YouTube and post the link.

xt2005bonbon
saw the video. mmh. don't remember if you mentioned it but white plug coils at the front and black at the rear right? have you checked the valve clearances before putting the covers back? GrizzlyBear
Yes on the coils and checking the valve clearance now
xt2005bonbon
sucks man. may have to check compression too.
xt2005bonbon
oh there's another thing: the intake cam pulley could have been reinstalled wrong where the dowel pin is not seated properly, which would result in a wrong timing.
GrizzlyBear
Ok just checked valve clearance on the head that I worked on the passenger head was fine so I didn't mess with it. The intake valves were all at 20mm and the exhaust was between 38 and 40 closer to 38 though.
GrizzlyBear
Hmm ok guess that's my next move is to check the cam pulley I am prety sure that the pin seated the right was but I'll double check. Oh and the first time I timed it we were worried that I used the arrow on the crank cog to line up but I didn't I used the hash mark that was the first thing I checked but forgot to tell you.
