Max Capacity
Yeah I have a stage 2 ready but let's just say with no tune it was dangerous to drive so for rn I'm back to stock but I do have everything for a stage 2 like an up and dp Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk So you have all stage 2 parts on the car right now but running stock tune? Thats the way I read that statement. If so it won't be long before boom. No I think he say's he has then ready...to go on. Yes you need a tune, keep the car out of boost until it's tuned for the pipe's. Make sure the MAF is clean and the plugs are new before you spend money for the tune. Make sure the engine is running the best it can. 305,600miles 5/2012 ej257 short block, 8/2011 installed VF52 turbo, @20.8psi, 280whp, 300ftlbs. (SOLD). CHECK your oil, these cars use it. gimpydingo
122 in the middleofnowhere, CA. Well nowhere until I jammed past a helicopter on the side of the road that took off and started to follow me. Stopped at a store and it was gone. Glad it wasn't a Chipper. henhead
I cant say I've had much of a desire to test out the 130 theory. After driving a car meant to go fast at high speeds a big wagon much over 100 does not inspire confidence.
therieldeal
I've had my other car up to about 140+... estimated of course due to the 120mph speedo. It's gear ratio limited to about 165 and it probably has enough power to get there... just not so sure I have the cajones to do it. For the record, it's a 1995 Ford Escort. Guest
Btw, while LGT's speedo tops at 160 mph, the ECU doesn't - you can log higher speeds.

05MNLGT
65mph. Ya'll are nuts. i agree, but if you have the track, right safety gear and experience, why not? if you're doing this on the street, you're not nuts, you or someone else is dead. at 130, the car can get loose before you have time to shit your pants. i've had a porsche gt3 up to 187 with a little bit of rear wiggle from a cross wind. that my friends, was almost it for me. respect the car. SamT07
Gentlemen it was midnight on a nice stretch of open highway in Los Angeles. I know the area pretty well so I know where, when, and how to speed in the "safest" way (I'm in no way saying it is safe). But I made sure the conditions were at its best. theGeneral
I've been reading up on forums and been looking at the fact that it said these cars are limited to 130 something MPH. Unless you get a tune to remove the governor. When I just got my car bone stock from some old guy, I actually maxed it out at around 155 where the car would redline in 5th. Anybody else like this? LOL why would you try and top out a mid sized economy car? I drive the highway for 40 miles to work and 40 back every day, travel at 80 but sometimes squirt to 90 to get past a pack of annoying people. But I wouldn't go over that. LatentWagen
Anything past about 125 and the aero just isn't there for good handling. As a rule I never go WOT in top gear... plenty of trouble to get in from 1st to 5th. 6th is too much load, both from gearing and wind resistance. At speed, one mistake, or an unexpected deer/debris/blowout/etc, and you're toast. LW's spec. B / YT / IG
HAMMER DOWN
~160 MPH (according to the officer) and the aftermath. Only doing 40mph:eek: http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l293/HAMMERDOWNGT/MikesBike-01.jpg http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l293/HAMMERDOWNGT/MikesBike-03.jpg Truck turn left in front of me. Hit center of his truck in the center of my lane. As for the LGT, I had a Sheriff asked me how fast will it go. He was looking to buy one. With out omitting any wrong doing. I said, "it's gear for 160mph, but the factory ECU limits it 138mph". But he keep asking how fast have I had her up to. I just , and told him at the track 100mph. He pulled me over twice after that, to talk cars. Mileage:331487 Retired/Sold

sunny5280
Only doing 40mph:eek: Truck turn left in front of me. Hit center of his truck in the center of my lane. Thankfully mine accident was just me and no other vehicles. Was doing 160+ down a mile long section of road. Couldn't slow down fast enough to make the corner so decided to run it out through a field which had a makeshift access road being used for construction. Only thing is I didn't see the three foot deep ditch separating the road from the field. Bike hit the ditch (estimated at 100 MPH at impact) and catapulted me through the field. Got very, very lucky as there was a bunch of debris scattered through the field (cement blocks, wood piles, telephone guide wire, etc.) which I managed to miss. Even more lucky as an off duty paramedic witnessed the whole thing and was able to render aid quickly. The pictures don't do the damage justice. I was told the frame had cracked (never got to see it as the insurance company took it before I was released from the hospital 24 days later). Officer was cool, so was the DA and judge. As for the LGT, I had a Sheriff asked me how fast will it go. He was looking to buy one. With out omitting any wrong doing. I said, "it's gear for 160mph, but the factory ECU limits it 138mph". While cool he likes to chat about cars I'd be kind of annoyed by an officer pulling me over for that reason.

The 2Fiver
105. What kind of stupid nasioc thread is this? Even with a downpipe and tune, stock turbo is boring past ~100 mph. Needless to say it will take WAY too much time, with danger only multiplying - to bury that needle in 5th gear.
WetLegacy
Hit 118mph on a very long, straight, four lane, empty highway in Charlotte. My friend was in a 05 3.0 L.L.Bean outback and held out to 125mph. Keep in mind mine is a stock 2.5i
