LegacyKid's 2009 Spec B

Figured I should start a thread for the new Spec B I picked up back in August and although it will stay primarily stock I have a few things planned for it. For those of you who don't know, my other car is a 2005 LGT Limited Wagon with a 5mt that I have owned for just over 5 years now. Info on that car can be found here: http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/kids-2005-lgt-wagon-build-198101.html

Anyway, on to the Spec B... I should preface the story with the fact that prior to buying the car I had no intention of buying a second car at the time, however I was perusing Craigslist as I often do, looking at cars I have no intention of purchasing when I stumbled upon this gem. 2009 Ruby Red Metallic Spec B, 38k miles, adult owned, completely stock other than an SPT intake. I had always been fond of the Spec B and reached out to the seller more out of curiosity than anything. Turns out it was he fell in love with the STI at the time but his wife wasn't too found of the looks which lead him to the Spec B. It was his weekend 'fun' car and kept in the garage under a cover. One thing led to another and after many lengthy phone calls we settled on a price and I found myself driving to Tillamook, Oregon to purchase the car if everything checked out. The car was as clean as I had been told and after a test drive and a trip to the bank I began my 5 hour drive back to Seattle.

Plans for the car are pretty limited as I want to keep the Spec B stock and have the wagon as the power house. At this point I'm only planning to do a Grimmspeed limited ceramic coated downpipe, Cobb V3 AP and a tune from Cobb Surgeline to increase power as well as engine longevity.

Without further ado, here are some pictures from when I first picked the car up:

First things first the hood deflector and sunroof deflector had to go, followed by a buff and wax of both areas.

Next the windows needed some tint. Took the car to Accutint NW and worked with Greg, settled in 15% all around with 35% on the sunroof:

That pretty much brings it up to date with the current status of the car!

Finally got around to switching out the SPT intake for a stock air box today after months of intending to do so. Fortunately I had the one I had removed from the wagon years ago. Cleaned it up a bit, purchased a new filter and got everything buttoned up.

Subscribed! Good plans, and nice start with the tint. Looking forward to your updates.

Thank you!

My friend has the same car. I have never seen another one in that color. Congrats and beautiful car!

Dave

Thank you very much! I'm only aware of a few others, from what I have been told there's less than 10 in this color in North America.

You will probably enjoy this. He is on the forum, but I forgot his name.

This car is gorgeous, I've watched that video more than a few times... Haha. The owners name is Chuck.

This car is gorgeous. Seriously one of, if not the finest Legacy sedan I have ever set eyes on. You just let me know when it needs a new home.

Thanks Ben, glad you enjoyed seeing and driving it. Sorry to let you down again, but she's not going anywhere.

Keep at it Ben. As long as Gunnar is not around to talk him out of it, you'll have better luck.

Haha hey now, the spec b was never going anywhere. And besides, would I be an accessory to murder if I knew Bens wife would kill him for buying another turbo Subaru and let him do such a thing?

:lol::lol: I'm here now haha. I still need to see the Spec B at some point. I've only seen the wagon. Maybe next spring when I actually will be home for a considerable amount of time again.

Material Tests on Ringland Failure Piston

I should have held off and purchased a wagon instead of the spec.B

She'll be around and hopefully tuned with a downpipe by spring time.

Quick oil change tonight at 42k miles, checked one more thing off my todo list this week before starting at Amazon next week.

What a sharp colour! So clean, too!

I have those same wheels, but have yet to use them.

Do you like them? Heavy, no?

Thank you, I try to keep it as clean as I can. Although the Seattle weather this year has been making it tough.

And they're alright, weight wise they don't feel obnoxiously heavy. I'd like to get some new wheels for it at some point.

Well after 10 months of owning the car I finally got around to giving it a full clay bar, buff, and polish. There were quite a few swirl marks throughout the paint and a few minor scratches that I was able to work out. I'm very pleased with the results.

Well as much as I loved this car, I ended up selling it this past weekend. After a lot of consideration it didn't make sense to have two of nearly the same car when there are other cars I want to experience and build. Before selling it I went out and filmed a video for the channel to show the car off a little bit.

Check it out here:
