  1. I buy stock paper filters in bulk to save money and change every 6 months to 1 year and it keeps my allergies at bay. Its dusty here in Phoenix AZ so I'm OK with changing them out fairly often.
  2. I've been VERY pleased with Michelin AS3+ tires on both a 2015 wrx I owned, and my current 2019 legacy 3.6r. Handle well, quiet, impressive in rain too. They are not inexpensive... but I put a lot of value in a quality tire and am willing to pay accordingly - its a good time to buy when Costco has a sale on michelins and install
  3. My 2019 3.6r is pretty quiet... after swapping the stock crap tires for Michelin AS3+ tires... YMMV. There is a great site run by a guy names Don who just retired this year. Grab the info here before he retires the site: https://www.sounddeadenershowdown.com/ Check out the "3 steps to quiet a vehicle" and go into the rabbit hole as deep as you dare... I've used all of his products on multiple vehicles and highly recommend them, just have to source the materials yourself now that he doesn't sell directly anymore... the information on his site is still 100% valid and useful though.
  4. I have those wheels and running 255/45/18 michelin as/3+ tires. Also running eibach lowering springs. no rubbing, great ride quality. Personally, I would not run a 225 on those wheels. YMMV
  5. I go around 90 mph twice a day on my way to work and back and never had a problem. In fact its quite stable, smooth, and quiet. I have upgraded the rear sway bar to the STI one, and have decent tires, FWIW. Even still, didn't have a problem before those changes. Tires do make a world of a difference and stock tires usually suck.
  6. What yoda said: https://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/official-6th-gen-legacy-aftermarket-mods-and-accessories-233671.html scroll down just a little bit and look under where it says suspension. I went with the 20mm subaru option myself, but you can do the whiteline if you want without exhaust issues.
  7. Myles at RCE has told a friend of mine a while back that adding a brace won't help with the feel on the brake pedal much on the 5th gens and that it was just not a good brake booster for performance-minded folks. Tried braided lines and new pads and it helps braking performance, but not pedal feel unfortunately. Maybe a little bit, but not as much as hoped. He did RCE struts back when they still made them for that car and springs, along with sways, etc so it handled pretty darn well overall.... but the braking was something that never noticeably improved. I've not heard if anyone has pursued replacing the entire brake booster assembly... YMMV, just passing along what I've learned on by buddy's previously owned 2014 3.6r.
  8. Thanks to all for the info in this thread (and some others on here, particularly gteaser). Just installed the Eibach lowering springs on my 2019 legacy 3.6r without issue. Springs were listed for the 2010-2012 (5th gen) but fit fine when I installed them as previously confirmed by gteaser. Part number used was 7722.140. ~$120 shipped brand new from Eibach as they are clearing them out. I ordered over the phone using their main phone #. Good service! install was straight forward, no issues following the factory service manual. Wheels are off a 2013 sti, (just refinished/powdercoated) BBS forged 18x8.5" +55 with 255/45/18 michelin AS3's spring comparison: assembled - eibach on left OEM on right: before: after:
  9. I am parting with the old wheels/tires. Posted on the local craigslist... Installed the eibach springs today as promised:
  10. Nice! I did the same thing with LEDs on the interior, weathertechs, jdm grille, sway bar, and ceramic coating LOL. Also got some BBS wheels and new tires on with lowering springs waiting in the garage... hopefully next weekend I can get those on too.
  11. I can finally add to this thread!!!! sti forged bbs wheels (18x8.5) I picked up used. They had some rash and needed refinishing, so I had them powder coated by a local shop in platinum silver. I wanted a darker silver, but I'll have to live with these for now... at least until the tires wear out and I can justify getting another color tires are michelin pilot sport as3+ in 255/45/18 (speedo is only -0.66% off from stock) eibach lowering springs are on order, waiting for them to arrive...
  12. that's why I asked him for the results of a stock 2015 wrx on the same dyno for comparison. Heck, and STi would work too.... numbers on a dyno mean nothing on their own....
  13. Can you share the part numbers for the gloss trim? Nice touch, might have to do that on mine... Any details on the install? Hoping it was fairly straight forward.
  14. So what are the wheel/tire sizes? Looks good!!
  15. Still fighting... SOA says they don't print vin plates and the local department of motor vehicles does. Contacted AZ DMV and they said they don't print vin plates and to contact the MFG..... so I'm trying to escalate to someone at SOA to help me. It can't be OK for me to NOT have a VIN plate. its federal and state law to have one displayed there (I did the research and printed out for reference).
  16. IMPORTANT UPDATE!! I just had my windshield replaced due to rock chip and came to discover... the tech that replaced my dash forgot TO MOVE THE VIN PLATE TO THE NEW DASH. http://i682.photobucket.com/albums/vv185/coldsoda/IMG_20161221_143351962_zpsw6j70elv.jpg I called the dealership that did the work and they thought I was wrong and told me to fly a kite... I showed up and showed them the car and the pictures I took and after bringing it to the service manager he finally believed me and went through the warranty paperwork related to the dash replacement.. Sure enough, on page 8 he saw the paragraph explaining the process to move the VIN plate from the old dash to the new one... He went back and spoke to every tech there and no one has done this for any dash replacements :-0 . Really? So now I'm waiting to hear back from the dealer after they try to figure out how to order me a new VIN plate.... Guys - make sure you check this when you pick up your car. For those that had theirs done, go check right now and confirm they did move the plate over.
  17. Checking in this thread with my 08 spec.b! http://i682.photobucket.com/albums/vv185/coldsoda/IMG_20161025_205001739_zpshc4qplnk.jpg http://i682.photobucket.com/albums/vv185/coldsoda/IMG_20161217_195106205_zpsy2i5aqbu.jpg
  18. Just to help you on future replies... check out the "M Quote" button. Click that button for each post you want to reply to, then hit "NEW REPLY" at the bottom of the thread. That way you aren't making 9 seperate posts, but one single post with 9 responses. a lot easier to read that way.
  19. knowing you are already started and have willing labor, I take back what I said and wish you the best of luck! keep us posted on the progress please...
  20. yeah really need to consider starting with an actual GT. unless time and money are overflowing for you... it'll be a smarter that way. not saying its impossible, but its going to cost more than the GT you really want, AND at the end of the day.. it'll still be a 2.5i and likely decreased in value.
  21. A lot of great information here covertrussian, thanks for posting so much detail! To add to ScottFW's post on tires, I've had great luck on multiple vehicles with the Michi AS3's in both the mid atlantic, midwest, and southwest (now live in AZ). I used to run a dedicated winter in OH and the DMV even though it was a bit overkill. Nowadays the AS3s are great for phoenix weather, and the occasional trip up north to Flagstaff and Payson where the weather does get colder/wetter. The AS3's I've also noticed are really good in the rain.
  22. Arizona went to an e55 only blend year round I was really wanting flexfuel with e85 but even still the e55 is a lot nicer than the crappy 91 we get. I'd be doing this if it were available... 2008 LGT spec B.
  23. EDIT: sorry I posted in the wrong section... I can move it to the outback photos section... my bad Really glad my wife picked the lapis blue for her 3.6R! Really looks nice after a good detail. What can I say.... we like the color blue..... http://i682.photobucket.com/albums/vv185/coldsoda/IMG_20151202_173001606_zpsp8fd8xcv.jpg
  24. what kind of compression / leakdown numbers is your engine showing right now? That'd be the first thing I'd check before aiming for "300 hp". the stock intake manifold is FAR from the first bottleneck in your quest for more power. do you have a tuner yet? These are really questions that should be answered by that person - finding a reputable tuner is KEY to a reliable subaru.
