need bb
I recently moved to California and discovered an E85 station within 15 minutes. I am currently running a Walbro 255, DW8500cc injectors, and a TD05-20G. I know I should ideally be on 1000cc injectors to maximize my setup, but is 850cc enough to still run E85 with lower boost? It seems like I would still be way better off than running pump 91. Thanks
whitrzac
You need ~30% more injector for e85.
LatentWagen
^ The right way to do it is to go with at least 1000cc, probably 1300 for headroom. However, you can get more flow out of your current injectors by bumping up the fuel pressure via an aftermarket regulator. LW's spec. Gex
Bigger pump and injector for sure. I wouldn't trust big sidefeeds either.
fahr_side
You need 1000cc injectors for this job and that's the right time to upgrade to top-feeds. Yes you can raise base fuel pressure by half a bar but this is a bandaid solution. If the pump isn't adequate flow will fall off as pressure rises and then you don't actually get more fuel flowing at peak revs. Obligatory 'build thread' Increased capacity to 2.7 liters, still turbo, but no longer need spark plugs. Tuning Alliance
Should really ditch sidefeeds and go top feed. As for e85, what IDC are you running now? need bb
Thanks for the response. I don't feel like spending more $$ so I am going to keep the 850cc. Sounds like I should just stay with pump gas for now.
acumenhokie
I have a TD05-20G with ID1000 and DW300 pump. As others have rightly said you'll need to go to at least ID1000s to swap to e85 (but it's worth it).

need bb
I have done some reading and it seems that the ID1000's flow around 900cc. My DW850's flow at 860cc so wouldn't this be close enough? Clearly I wouldn't be able to run 20+ PSI, but it seems that I could still pick up a lot of power by running higher timing with lower boost. It seems that 850cc would be good for around 350WHP on E85, which is a good bump from where I am on 91 today. If I go this route I would definitely need to rewire my fuel pump to get closer to 14v. xtea
I'm maxing my injectors on e85 with dw850's and a vf52.
fahr_side
I have done some reading and it seems that the ID1000's flow around 900cc. My DW850's flow at 860cc so wouldn't this be close enough? I start tuning the ID1000s with a scalar at 880cc and the final values end up within about 5cc of that. If those modded 850s aren't enough then I'd step up to the DW1200 if you're tuning with OS tools or ID1300 if on Cobb. You want to hold the VF-52 to right around 1bar at redline anyway as efficiency falls off a cliff beyond that. You're not leaving much on the table.
