leolfds
Hello everyone. I've been a member here for quite sometime, and mostly followed all the topics, reading up as much as I can for the day I owned my own Subaru Legacy. Today it is that day, and Id like to share it with you. I just purchased today a 2015 Subaru Legacy 3.6R Limited fully loaded with Eyesight, Nav, Moonroof, etc..; and now I am excited to join the family. Car will be ready for pickup this Thursday. I did not want to buy it new because I don't want to pay full price only to have it depreciate as soon as I drive off the lot. But the car looked to be in excellent condition. It was listed at a local Subaru dealership for $25,999 with only 10,700 miles. I thought there had to be something wrong with it, right? I KBB it and it was listed under the fair market price range (see link below). I drove out to the dealer to check it out and everything looked to be in top shape. It looked even better in person than it did on the pictures. Took it out for a test drive and it drove fine. No issues noticed. No noise, No pulling. Took it on the highway, hard accelerated up to 80mph and cruised for about 10 seconds and it rode fine. No vibrations, no pulling, no squeaking and no weird noises. It had a smooth acceleration and a nice pull. Sales rep was a bit nervous. I joked with him saying I wanted to test the Eyesight front crash prevention next. He looked at me with some concern in his eyes . After I scared the living crap out of my sales rep. I took him back for negotiations. I had the dealership dig out the car history, and the Carfax... Car was bought at auction (was a bit nervous there), only one owner, no accidents or any other damage reported, all service done on time. I am sitting there thinking WTH... what's wrong with it? But I could not find anything wrong with it, so I bought it. At first they did not want to go any lower on the price, but in the end I got the car for $25,000. I did buy the extended 6yr/100k bumper to bumper warranty for additional $2,000. I am a field sales rep. and I am constantly driving and putting up miles so the extra warranty gives me the peace of mind. I think this was an amazing deal in the end. I am sitting here now writing this post while still thinking what is wrong the car . Anyway, LMK what you guys think? cerbomark
If you don t use quart of oil in the first 1000 miles you ll be fine. I m joking but in a way that would be the only concern that would be a big repair or concern. Even with that you have a warranty. I m sure the car is fine as most of them are. I just got a 17 Outback and now have 1000 miles. I m watching the oil level closely as my only concern. Nice ride!
BeastCoast
Just to comapare, in my area there is the same car for 23,995 with 20,000 miles more than what you just purchased. Seems like you did pretty well @BeastCoast1
TTG
Congratulations! You did well and that is about what the dealer was asking for my car when I traded it in with 20K miles. Mine was completely loaded but no eye sight (per my order) However, they CPO'ed the car and it had $1500 worth of clearbra and window tint as well as of countless hours of detailing to it. If I were you, I would of waited on the warranty and extend the Subaru warranty right before the original warranty expires. Sometimes, you get much better deals that way. leolfds
Thank you for the replies guys. Sorry for responding late I've been traveling for work a lot. I just took delivery of the car today and I love this car. Eyesight is great and love how smooth acceleration is on the 3.6r. My fiancee has a 2015 Outback 2.5i premium and the gas pedal is very jerky. You barely touch it and it jumps off. After a while it gets very annoying. Also compared to the Outback, i think he legacy is more stable and firmer. The only feature I didn't like much is the steering responsive fog lights so I turned that off. My sales rep. told me today they made a mistake on the warranty. They accidentally charged me for the warranty of the 4-cylinder instead. If I were you, I would of waited on the warranty and extend the Subaru warranty right before the original warranty expires. Sometimes, you get much better deals that way. good tip, but I wanted to get it done with; and it was a good negotiating tool for getting the price lowered more. Just to comapare, in my area there is the same car for 23,995 with 20,000 miles more than what you just purchased. Seems like you did pretty well Thank you. I was actually watching that vehicle too, but decided to go with the less miles. Also found the one I got to be in better shape, but nonetheless that was a beautiful car too. If you don t use quart of oil in the first 1000 miles you ll be fine. I m joking but in a way that would be the only concern that would be a big repair or concern. Even with that you have a warranty. I paid $23K for my 2.5i base:spin: Congrats! My fiancee is mad at me because my car has more bells and whistles than her outback... and lower payments too. Very nice, thanks for sharing. Don't worry, you are going to love your car and I bet have zero problems with it. I already do. Looks gorgeous. Enjoy your new ride! And let us know when you start to tinker with it. I will. On my list right now are the following. * get it professionally detailed and install Clearbra * 19mm or 20mm sway bar "still deciding which one" * Install the auto-dimming side view mirror * WeatherTech * tint rear and side windows. * JDM front grill * LED fog lights upgrade. "still researching it" more to come...
cdc782
^^ i have the 19mm and it is fine. i have the husky mats and like them. i have the side dimming mirrors and LOVE them. i have tint and it does not seem to affect the dimming of any mirrors. please dont start a new lighting thread! there are a few. search! tigger73
Yes agree this is a good mod list to start with. I haven't heard anyone complain that the 20mm bar being too firm. I'm running one and I think it's great. I think it depends on what you can find at the right price. Personally I'd go for the stiffer bar for flatter cornering, though that's personal preference. If you're going to keep it long term, the other thing I would add to the list is scuff plates/clear wrap for the door sills, boot sill and lip and possibly the area inside the door handles as these are the high wear/scratch areas. It's relatively easy to get clear wrap reapplied but much harder to fix up paint that gets scratched. Speaking from personal experience. I wish could drive both and compare before deciding. I do plan on keeping long term. I have plan to drop off the car for clearbra. I will add door Cups, door edge guards & trunk... Little update... was having issues with the infamous Infotainment system. Vehicle Monitor ECO Data on the display and the compass on the instrument panel were not displaying. Just had dashes instead of numbers letters. Also I could not access the Vehicle Customization page under settings it always kicked me back to the home screen. Took it back to the dealership and they updated the firmware and now all is working good. took about 1.5hrs to complete the work. Updated upgrade wish list. * Get it professionally detailed and install Clearbra * 19mm or 20mm sway bar "still deciding which one" * Install the auto-dimming side view mirror * WeatherTech (completed today) * Tint rear and side windows. * JDM front grill * LED fog lights upgrade. chowser51
Looks great! You did well. I paid $29k for mine new and it didn't have eye sight. Are you allowed to tint the front windows? In Ohio, it's 50%, but I have mine at 35%. In almost 40k miles, I don't think I've ever used my horn. I better try it to make sure it works and just to hear what it sounds like. In Connecticut is no less than 35% for the side front and side back windows and whatever you want on the rear window. If you have a medical condition you can go lower but no less than 20% with DMV's approval. I don't need it too dark just a little privacy and to make the car look slicker. I used my horn today and immediately regretted it. The stock horn sounds awful. The Hella Super Tones are much nicer and louder. Someone here already did this mod with a little bit of effort made it work. I will install them when I get the JDM grill so I don't have to take the bumper off twice. http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/2016-legacy-horn-connectorsi-248021.html?t=248021&highlight=hella+supertones

For what it's worth, it's one of the easiest bumpers I've bee taken off. I have the super tones too, HUGE improvement. I used the "fits most Subarus" harness from subimods. Hardest part was hiding wires and that was pretty easy. I'd buy a bracket imo. I don't have one now but I have one arriving tomorrow I'll be putting on. There was one near me with 6k and change for 27,900. If the sales reps wouldn't have been such d**** bags I would have likely bought it. One of my local dealers offered me a brand new white one for 31k out the door so I called my favorite dealer who'd helped me with some test drives and they offered to sell me a black one for 30,900. As much as I know buying a new car isn't the smartest financial move I did it anyways. 30,900 had me feeling pretty darn good considering all it came with. leolfds
my fiancee popped my car's cherry today. This happened... she hit a curb while pulling into a public parking spot. .... needles to say she lost her Legacy privileges. Damage was all along the bottom edge of the bumper. what sucks is that some of those scrapes caught the new clear-bra I just put on last week. pictures are bit crappy. I put touch up paint on the scratches and it is good enough. Can't tell much but will have to do for now.
