fotofan
Say, coldsoda, when did you buy this car? I'm 90% certain this is the one I came within an inch of buying, and then he sold it. I put something here like all the cool people, except there's nothing cool to put here.

coldsoda
just finished the bi-annual full detail on the car tonight. Stripped any remaining waxes down with IPA, corrected a few small scratches. Megs 105 with an orange pad does well on this paint, FYI. filled in some rock chips, finished up with a couple sealants 1) blackfire wet diamond paint protection, then 24 hours later topped with FK1000p sealant. Should be good for another 6 months! http://i682.photobucket.com/albums/vv185/coldsoda/IMG_20161025_205001739_zpshc4qplnk.jpg

This is a good reference for why you would want to use it: http://www.detailedimage.com/Ask-a-Pro/ask-a-pro-the-isopropyl-alcohol-ipa-wipedown/ And this thread goes into detail on how to mix it properly and more discussion on the IPA wipedown: http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/hot-topics-frequently-asked-questions/31183-how-mix-ipa-inspecting-correction-results.html we keep 70% IPA around the house, which is easy to dilute to 10% for my use in the garage. coldsoda
Local subaru group had a group drive/cruise this weekend. I see many of these guys every Sunday at our local meet spot, but it was nice to go for a drive this time. Started in Tempe, AZ went through Yarnell, AZ then Prescott, AZ. A couple pics for good measure. I was proud to be the only legacy in attendance... lol. http://i682.photobucket.com/albums/vv185/coldsoda/IMG_20161106_074055036_HDR_zpscoqhbd08.jpg http://i682.photobucket.com/albums/vv185/coldsoda/IMG_20161106_094851944_zps70y35c0r.jpg

coldsoda
So clutch was finally ready to go for good Made it 129,752 miles on the stock clutch, which isn't bad I guess. Here's what I chose to install: Exedy FJK1000 clutch kit (sti OEM clutch) OEM STi Flywheel PN:12310AA410 Here's a few pictures to show the old stock clutch and one pic I took to compare the OEM STi Flywheel to the OEM Spec B flywheel. Also, I did check the turbo and the shaft play felt good, didn't move much front to back at all I was actually surprised it was holding up as well as it is. Guess I'll have to wait on the VF52.... lol http://i682.photobucket.com/albums/vv185/coldsoda/IMG_20161202_104213383_zpsxjkqh5mt.jpg http://i682.photobucket.com/albums/vv185/coldsoda/IMG_20161202_095822973_zpsigks0kxh.jpg http://i682.photobucket.com/albums/vv185/coldsoda/IMG_20161202_095716671_zpswxgsdqkk.jpg http://i682.photobucket.com/albums/vv185/coldsoda/IMG_20161202_095615112_zps7yhgef2b.jpg
covertrussian
That's a shot disk! How did you remove the trans without removing the axles? 05 LGT 16G 14psi 290whp/30mpg (SOLD) 12 OBP Stock 130whp/27mpg@87 Oct 00 G20t GT28r 10psi 250whp/36mpg 22 Ascent STOCK
Max Capacity
You just slide the tranny back and down while popping the axles out. I believe that's how the dealer dose it. Helps to have the car on a lift. The read diff comes out the same way, axles stay in the car. 305,600miles 5/2012 ej257 short block, 8/2011 installed VF52 turbo, @20.8psi, 280whp, 300ftlbs. (SOLD). coldsoda
^ yep, what Mr Capacity said.. it was on a lift so that helps a TON. a buddy can help hold the axles out of the way as the trans goes back up where it belongs.
coldsoda
A nice weekend for a wash and oil change. covertrussian
Car looks really clean for that many miles! Thank to you and Max Capacity I used the same method of dropping the transmission tonight. Though I did have to unbolt the LCA's and swabar end links to be able to move them out far enough to get the axles out. Didn't even bother removing the wheels . 05 LGT 16G 14psi 290whp/30mpg (SOLD) 12 OBP Stock 130whp/27mpg@87 Oct 00 G20t GT28r 10psi 250whp/36mpg 22 Ascent STOCK
coldsoda
^ Nice work! Glad I was able to spread at least some helpful info here! Thanks for the kind words Next thing on my list is TPMS sensors. I have one that isn't reading any more, so the rest are probably soon to follow. I just have a hard time justifying ~$200 for new sensors and installation... Its on the back-burner for now.
