bluesuby
Chop off the old connector and put a new one on. That's what I'm thinking this morning. But I'll be looking for a heavy duty connector in lieu of the plastic OEM. I'm thinking the connector itself probably functions as a heat sink and I want one which will handle the higher temperatures.
stevenva
Just replace them with ceramic bulb sockets. They use brass connectors. Peace of mind. You'll never 2nd guess your decision. The factory unit failed from heat not only from the bulb, but any old connector with a bit of resistance heats up as well. I've done the Osram Rally 65W with ceramic bulb sockets on my previous Legacy. They are bright but don't last. I got so fed up with replacing them every 3-4 months I did a full HID retrofit. If you want to keep it simple I recommend switching to HIR bulbs. HIR bulbs claim more lumens with less wasted heat by some wizardry or magic. I've got HIR bulbs in my Outback. I am using the factory connectors. At night, they appear to light the same as overwatt, But they last. No headlight system will beat a projector HID with polished lens. I found a HID conversion kit that is vehicle specific for our cars. RIP 96 Legacy 2.2 4EAT lost reverse @ 374,000 miles

Since I bought 4 spares when I heard Osram was discontinuing the 65w bulb, if I can get the connectors to work I'll be set for years. BTW, my DRLs are not disconnected and although I don't do a lot of night driving, the bulb which just baked itself did last a year. Funny thing is despite the cook-off the bulb filament and the fuse never went bad.
fedaykin
The only thing I don't like about that TRS kit is the H1 projectors; they should make Mini D2S 4.0 brackets.

I agree, or TL-Rs which might be a better fit. I retrofitted modded RX330s but thats a more involved process.
fedaykin
RX330 = Maxima = "black" series? I figured they would be bolt in, since it's the OE HID projector.
